Wondering the collective thought on this...

You purchase a firearm on the forum for a great price.
You shoot the gun a few times and decide it’s not for you for whatever reason.
You decide to sell on the forum.
Do you price It for the deal price you bought It at, or knowing you can sell It for more, do you price It at that price.

Do you think it’s unethical or ok to come out ahead?

Yes. Price it for what you bought it for. Want to sell your house for what you bought it for?

Hell NO! Sell it for whatever you can get. If that’s more than what you paid, so be it.

Or trade it for something else. Then you aren’t directly flipping.

You seem to contradict yourself unless I’m not understanding.
You think it’s unethical to price It for more so I should price It for what I bought It for.

In regards to the house, no I don’t want to sell It for what I bought It for. I want to sell It for more if it’s worth more.

Yeah that makes sense. I did not buy It with the intent to flip at all. Just been a process finding the right one.

If you bought it from a forum member and he gave you a deal because you are friends, then it would be in bad taste to flip it so quickly for a profit. If you got a deal for no reason other than you were a good negotiator, or he had it priced too low, then sell it for what you can get for it.

Sell it for whatever you want. The market and who is looking to purchase changes daily. You might get more just because somebody who wants it got a bonus. If your too high the market will tell you.

Whether you buy or look to sell, there are no guarantees. Ask what you ask, and sell for what you can get. If someone has a lack of maturity and doesn't understand the way of the world, that's on them.

This post and you even asking the question shows that you have a good ethical foundation

Yep. Everyone makes fun of Buzz for going through guns but I have possessed, sold or traded countless guns in the past forty years. If I don't care for a particular gun it's gone. I'm not a gun dealer so I don't give a flip about making money but I don't begrudge those who do.

I may be alone in this thinking , but If I got a great deal , I would privately offer it back to the seller at the same price.
If they turned it down, I would get the best price I could.

^^This

And when the seller does not want to buy it back, price it at real value. The previous seller may have failed to research the value, and priced it too cheap. That is his mistake, not yours. Disclaimer: If you said "I'll take it" and did not talk him down to a lower price than he had listed.

I ended up selling It for the price I bought it for FYI. I think gunbroker prices and real prices with real thf differ.

They do often differ. Keep in mind that THF prices are mostly regional. Gunbroker prices are nationwide. Some sell cheaper, some sell for more. Sometimes what sells hot here in Texas doesn't sell in upstate NY or somewhere else for the same money. A bigger audience also affects sales price. YMMV
