The Doolittle raid trigger Japanese planning of the Midway attack, that resulted in such severe losses to their carrier fleet, that they were on the defensive the rest of the war.

I come from a long line of fighting men.  My great uncle kept some of the shrapnel they cut out of him and my other uncles made sure they put it in his casket.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

My dad went thru Africa, then Italy, then went into France via the Mulberry Harbors a few days after D-Day under General Bernard Montgomery. He was in a Sherman Tank crew and was severely injured in the Battle of the Bulge. He didn't talk much about the war, usually only when we were anchored up in the river, cat fishing. We still owe a great deal to that generation.

Our military has been fighting nonstop since 2001. They are all volunteers unlike those that fought in WWII, many of whom were draftees. I think we are in capable hands.
