Diameter where the head meets the insert. 11/32 for the crossbow heads. Some of the expandable broadheads will open under the torque of being fired from a crossbow. Fixed blade heads it really matters not since the cutting edge has opened up a big enough hole before the insert gets there to not cause any interference in penetration.

Rage crossbow and just regular compound broadheads? Look at evolution broadheads. Better mechanical retainer system design. With that said, I think you will be just fine with a well made wider fixed if you want to go that route
