Sighted in some new 3.5" turkey loads in my 12 Ga 870 SuperMag, and also the 10 ga. After a half dozen rounds, I was done!! Those things HURT!!!

Why? Use a better decoy and call. Get a HECS suit. I get a few birds every year and I limit my shots to 20-yards. To me, part of really outsmarting a turkey is to call it in close. I use a muzzleloader 20-gauge with IC/Mod chokes and 1 1/8 ounce of #5 shot. Between the black powder and the other components combined with the gun the recoil is hardly something noticeable. If you like shooting "long-range" turkey (or anything else) I'm certainly not opposed. But you should expect consequences..... There are other ways to get it done without recoil and a huge blast.....

Yep, they got some recoil. Put a folded up towel etc on your shoulder next time. it will help or better yet ,get some TSS & shoot 2 3/4 & kill further than those mini cannon shells.

I was really hoping to find some of the new high efficiency 2 3/4" shells, but with the ammo shortage there are NO turkey loads available anywhere. It looks like everybody is buying them up for self-defense loads!! Going to Arizona next week for a draw hunt, so using what I have in the safe. Just need one good shot!!!
