I appreciate all the advice on getting land, I.e., "How much land is needed and so on".......The land Im getting 20acers in Rattan OK. It's sits the bottom of a wildlife refugee which sits up on a mountain. No high fence and maybe buy more in the next few years if I'm around. Has a creek and cleared areas and some dense woods. Something for me and the family to get away during summer or off-season but only two of us hunt . Figured we would just bow hunt since it's 20 acers and each license you buy is $300 for out of state. But I don't have to worry about the land owners telling me that their daughter/son/grand children's has decided to hunt and now I have to leave. In the last two years I have had kidney cancer and lost the kidney. Now the remaining kidney is 60% dead and stage 3 disease. I've has 9 major reconstruction back surgeries from 2001 to 2009, 8 years in a wheelchair and 4 years to learn to walk again. OCt 2020, I had 5 heart stints done and end of March 2021 I had a heart attach and more stints and balloons done to my heart. So I am trying to enjoy life while I can. 20 acers my not be much but it's mine and something I have always wanted. I lost a bother 4 years ago at my age I am now from his body/organs shutting down. I'm only in my 50's and scared to death, I want to enjoy what time I have left!!!!! thanks everyone!!!!

I put some pictures on your previous post. I bought 20 acres 12 years ago and it's been great.

Praying our Lord provides the conditions for you and yours to enjoy many more years at your new place. I bought mine 10 years ago and it has made my life amazing and filled it with all sorts of plans and expectations. Best of luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I read your land post because I was curious myself wanting to buy land. Happy you purchased and enjoy it as long as you can. Prayer sent.

Good for you for continuing to fight for life! I posted in the previous thread that you should buy as much as you could afford, but that it would not be enough no matter how much you got. I guess what I should have said was buy as much as you can afford and enjoy it as much as you can. Keep your eyes open for neighboring properties to come up for sale, and buy them as you can afford them too if you still want more.

Congrats on your own little slice of heaven!

Wow, you have overcome so many adversities, yet still have a positive outlook on life and things that are important. I, too bought a smaller place, 34 acres, surrounded by National Forest, and I enjoy the heck out of it. I feel you will get the same pleasure out of your own land also! Good luck!!

Great for you and hoping it brings much happiness. We purchased a patch of central Texas 6 years ago for a getaway/hunting place, and haven't regretted the decision for a second. It has been so nice, this week we break ground on our permanent home and hope to be living there full time within a year. As I told my wife, there are no guaranteed tomorrows and we need to enjoy life to the fullest while we can - can't wait to be out of the City.

FYI - a buddy of mine has a similar set up north of Antlers and he has taken some great deer off his place, so betting you are happy.

Good luck amigo!

This place will give you a new lease on life. It's great to see you still slugging away.

Get you a cushy chair and a popup blind. The deer will eventually get used it. I even snore sometimes but it doesn't seem to bother them any more. Kick back and relax as time slows down.

Enjoy it.
I enjoy the heck out of my 3 ranches.
I know how it is having to get off a lease. We had a great lease for 22 years then the owners turned it over to their children and that was it.
That’s one thing I don’t have to worry about anymore losing a lease.
I do have 3 electric bills,3 water bills and 3 property tax bills but 2 aren’t bad where I live is pretty steep.
Good luck to you.
