I had one of the OG "Sunslingers" and you could not kill that thing. River ended up moving and taking it down stream with it.
That being said, I have since moved up to a 12v feeder, and will never go back to a 6V.

You went from 6v to 12v, what was the difference between the two. 12v just throw further of what?

The 6 volt did not seem to throw corn any further than 20-25'.
My 12v stand and fill feeder will sling corn 35-40'. Some of the newer ones are throwing even further.
Takes deer longer to eat it all and allows for more deer in the pen at once.

Sunslinger design isn’t good. The solar panel is too close to the spinner plate. Condensation gets on solar panel making it wet. The dust from the corn cakes up on the solar panel causing it not to keep battery charged. Good ol corn dust.

My uncle has one of those on the property that is about to be replaced after only two years. It will spontaneously hang in the on position and empty the entire feeder in one throw. Might do it two days after being filled, might be two weeks, but it will do it. The thing worked fine for a while then just went crazy.
American hunter was a great product back when they were small and still in Mesuite, Tx. Once they sold out, profit became the motive and while they still have a few decent parts, their assembled products just suck.

i run the sunslinger 6v and have had good luck with it. In the past 3 or 4 years i think i replaced the battery once. The new design has a varmint guard on it. Might have to switch to that this year.

I have had good luck with the Sunslingers but only feed 1-2 times a day 6 seconds max at most. Couple of them have been running for 5 years plus with only a battery change every couple years. Little solar panel does get dirty and now the plastic is clouding up but they still charge and throw. I could see where with heavier use they maybe wouldn't hold up.
Shoot. Eat. Repeat.
