It's pretty nice. I'm laying on the floor directly in front, toes were frozen solid.

A higher TV is awesome, when you recline back it's the perfect height. It's a lot better than trying to look down your nose when reclined.

I agree, father n law has above mantle tv and it does take adjusting to continually look up; lower mantle mounted tvs would be my preference or very large tvs up there.

I’d love to mount on on my ceiling above my bed so I can lay flat on my back, watch tv until I fell asleep without being uncomfortable, and having to turn over to go to sleep.

Bingo. We have a TV on the patio above a double sided fireplace. The heat doesn’t get to the TV as much as the smoke does if the wind is blowing the wrong direction or if the wood is a little damp. I need to add a 6-8” mantle below it to keep the soot off the bottom of the TV.

Does anyone know of any mounts that mount towards the base of the TV and extend upwards. I'm looking for something like the mantle mount, but dosen't extended downwards. The damn window above my fireplace complicates things. I have limited options on where I can mount, and I dont want to do anything drastic.

I had to accommodate something similar with the armoire I’m selling right now. It was made for an old school big screen TV and had a big cutout where the TV should go. What you could do it put two 2x4s vertically in the window and bolt them into the studs, paint it then mount the tv on those 2x4s. Unless you have a view in that window from the outside you won’t ever see them inside. Probably 20 mins worth of work and could look decent if done right. Have you thought about running power/cables back there?

Too high for me. I like tv at eye level when seated. My son asked me why I don't get rid of entertainment center and hang tv on wall. #1, I have too many components in entertainment center plus other things. Running wires would also be another issue. I have a bundle behind tv. Fiber optic, cables for sat and antenna, sub woofer, speakers including surround sound, DVR, power to 6 things.

Our old house we did without issue for 10 years. The TV was a bit high but not really an issue.

New house we have a larger living room and the space is set up better for it to be on a wall.

Looks good. You can buy a cable chase to hid the cables....”C” shaped metal or plastic that covers the cords. I built cable chases from my cabinets to wall boxes behind my TV so the cables are out of sight.

Yeah, I'm gonna call someone to install an outlet behind the TV, and a couple of canister lights while he's at it. I dont touch electricity. I'm afraid of burning my house down....

I've bought a few of these kits over the years to get power behind wall mounted TV's and to the TV over our fireplace. They make the entire process really easy.

The other benefit is that you can cut the power to everything over the fireplace by just unplugging the power cable.

Not a fan. I prefer television at eye level, sitting.

The heat from our natural gas fireplace affects our directv box that's located behind our patio TV.

FYI
