Working in the yard yesterday I came across this item. The first think I noticed is that it weighs about twice what I thought it would. Got a rare earth magnet out and it sticks to the rock somewhat. Hard to see in the photo but it has some rust looking spots. I am wondering it is could be a Iron Meteorite. Anyone ever seen one before.
It is just a bit smaller than a golf ball.

Meteorites are smooth from the melting as they cut through the atmosphere.

I think falmike is right about it being hematite.

Kryptonite for sure.

Seriously I'd guess a meteor.

Hematite could be correct. Says it is slightly magnetic like this one is. I will find someone near me to confirm.
