I have 10lbs of Ramshot Tac. I've only used this powder for .223/5.56. I'm wanting to use it for 7.62x51 with 150gr bullets. Mainly in a M1A and an AR-10. Anyone use the powder for this application before?

It is very similar to burn rate of Allianz AR comp which I use a lot of for 308. I recently picked up some tac and will try it in 308 since I haven’t seen ar company in a year. Here is data off accurate’s loading data pdf.

TAC is one of my favorite 223 and 308 powders, especially out of a progressive press.

Well, the data you are requesting is for 7.62x51, which would be about 1.5 to 2 grains less than the max charge listed for 308 Win. I would pull the data straight from the source above. I know about 47 grains of TAC is max with some 155's in Winchester brass. So you would need to back it down a grain if using LC brass, and another 2 grains for 7.62x51 data. So I would say your max is about 44 grains with a 150/155 grain bullet for 7.62x51 pressures. That would be max, so keep it under that for 7.62 and you should be fine. The AR-10 can handle more, but the M1A I would keep it under 7.62 max pressures.

Full power .308 loads burn very well in typical ar-10 short barrels

Thanks Chad, you confirmed what I was thinking of 41.5 to 44 grains. I'll be using Lake City cases, CCI no. 34's and Hornady 150gr Interlock bullets. Always good to have an expert opinion.

I use TAC a lot. My go to is 46 grains for 150s which is good for 2850 out of a 20” barrel.

I don't have the 3xperince Chad does but I've generally noticed what he observed.
My 308 can do about 2930fps with 155 berger vlds around 45.5gr tac. It had amazing accuracy out to 300yds however I just cleaned the last batch of abm brass and about a quarter of the brass has ejector marks. Btw mine is a 26" savage bolt.
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

Thanks for everyone's input but .308 info is pretty much useless for M1A, AR-10/7.62x51 load development. Often time Factory .308 rounds will blow the primers out of the brass or at least have ruined primer pockets on the particular Rifles I'm reloading for.
