The hold out seems to be GOP senator, Sen. Kel Seliger of Amarillo.

If Patrick wanted to get it done, it would be done. Don't look past him.

I think it may be time for a “ new sheriff in town “ someone that won’t roll over because he’s worried about his political stature!

From The Trace, A push for permitless carry in Texas hangs in the balance. With passage in four states in 2021, it’s already been a banner year for laws that allow the carrying of firearms without a state-issued permit; 19 states now have a version of the statute. But despite Texas’ GOP-controlled statehouse and strong gun rights constituency, the lieutenant governor said that a House-passed bill currently lacks the votes in the state Senate.

I e-mailed both Seliger and Patrick. Asked if they stand with Biden or with Texans.

He was all conservative, fire and brimstone when he had his radio show. He used the support from that radio audience to unseat a long term R in the primary that lost touch with his constituents. He then got to Austin and turned blue. How long have he and Paul Bettencourt been there and what have they accomplished on property tax reform? I'll tell you, they've been there too long and accomplished a big fat nothing!!!! He needs to get the boot from Austin and he needs to get back on his radio show to see how out of touch he has become.
Thanks, Rich

Texas needs to take a long, hard look at their little "conservative darlings".
Abbott included.

And these clowns cant figure out why conservatives refuse to identify as Republicans anymore. Texas should have been leading the way on this all along. Instead we aint even caught up to the other states much less lead the way. The Second Amendment is the only right you have that you have to be licensed to utilize. Try forcing a license to vote through and watch how much noise people make! Hell you dont even have to ID yourself to vote, no back ground check to vote, no license to vote, no finger prints to vote, dont even have to be mentally stable to vote. All the above if you want to carry a gun though even though both rights are granted to you by the same Constitution! And as citizens of the state of Texas we are OK with this.

I don't think the citizens are. But the politicians sure are. Texas has always been a gun control state.

Contrary to popular belief voting is not a constitutional right. The Constitution says that that legislators can pick Representatives any way they see fit but if they have a popular vote certain standards must be upheld. Individuals voting wasn't even mentioned in the Constitution until the Fourteenth Amendment I believe. Prior to that the only time voting was mentioned in the Constitution was in reference to how legislators do things.
Trolling? Heck no, I meant every word of it.

Just as the 2nd Amendment says the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Several constitutional amendments address voting, and the infringement of it by govt.

And if it dont have the support then put it to a vote anyway!! I want to see which retards need to be voted out next election! If it is tabled in the senate by Dan Patrick, we need to push hard for a new Lieutenant governor that represents us. The biggest disappointment in this whole thing is Law Enforcement has came out against it. Patrick has a track record of blindly backing law enforcement. Does law enforcement believe they are the only ones that should be armed? I don’t know but they are the pivotal voice as to whether HB 1927 gets approval by the Texas Senate. LTC instructors are against it as well. From a lost business perspective, I can see a serious conflict of interest directing the stance of LTC instructors. Surely I am not the only one that clearly recognizes the legality of carrying has no impact on whether those who want to do bad things with guns will carry. I am interested to hear our usually outspoken forum members who are peace officers speak up on the topic.

Seeing as I will maintain my LTC regardless, I haven't been following the letter of the proposed laws. I'm curious, do they require those that carry without a LTC to also identify to an officer that they are carrying? If not, then that is your answer right there. They have to go into every situation assuming that someone is carrying. With LTC holders they are at least able to determine someone has a LTC and we inform them we are carrying when stopped. I would hope that's the situation under an unlicensed constitutional carry encounter as well. If not, then that combined with the knowledge that there will be more people carrying that may not be familiar with their firearm and it's safe handling will give them some concern. Earl And if it dont have the support then put it to a vote anyway!! I want to see which retards need to be voted out next election! No surprise to me. He's about as rino as it gets. He tries to mask that, but it's been falling off the past couple of years.
