We are heading north tomorrow. Up 35W to I-20 and then west on I-20. It’ll be about lunch time when we hit the south side of Ft Worth. Any suggestions on where to eat that’s good and not too slow, and not far off the freeway? I’m sure I could find a Cracker Barrel or a Whataburger, but something better would be preferred.

Cousins BBQ on McCart is delicious. Specifically the one on McCart, the others aren't as good.

Another vote for Charley's. Good onion rings. Not some frozen product.

I would continue on 35W to Argyle until I was at 407 BBQ, an extra 35 to 40 miles but well worth the time and effort.

Another vote for Charley's, I normally stop by when I am in that area.

407 sounds like it is probably out of the way for you, but I can't say enough good stuff about that place if you're ever in that area. (And good enough to make the trip even if you aren't in the area).

I would avoid the Hard 8 in Burleson. It was very disappointing when I went there last September.

I agree on Hard 8. It can be pretty hit or miss, mostly miss. Babe's would be my choice if I stopped in Burleson. Charley's if I went a few blocks north of I-20.

We got to FTW too soon to eat, so the wife vetoed Charlie’s. We stopped in Decatur to eat at Braum’s. I accused her of wanting to eat there because of the ice cream. She denied that quite firmly. We had burgers and then she got ice cream.

Got to say it. Braums way outclasses Whataburger and the other fast food burger joints. That was an excellent Bacon CB, and the fries were really good. I’m moving them to the top of quickie burger joints in my area. That said, the higher end places like Twisted Root can be better. And Coyote Bluff still reigns supreme to me.

Abuelos` has great Mexican food. It is @ Hulen Mall and easy to get to off of I 20 (about 1/2 mile). We eat there 2-3 times a year.

The Hard 8 in Stephenville isn`t ant better, but the parking lots is always full.
