Has anyone ever heard or used a guy named Craig Maartens? Wanted to get some feed back about the guy. I’m also looking at Somerby Safaris.

Heard of Somerby, never heard of Maartens Safaris...looks like they've been in business for a long time. He has a list of several Texans as references on his website. Have you called any of them? Looks like a couple are in the Houston area.

What do you want to hunt? I have hunted plains game with eZulu (South Africa) and Africa Awaits (Namibia) and can gladly recommend both. I dealt with Africa Awaits' agent in the US, High Mountain Hunts and was also impressed with their operation. I also fished with N'Dumo (SA & Namibia) on the Zambezi river and was very happy with them as well.

Book in confidence. Craig runs a very good operation, has a solid reputation amongst the outfitting community and will ensure you have a good time. The same can be said about Somerby Safaris. Both operations I am extremely positive will deliver on your expectations.
Enjoy the hunt.

Drom at Somerby is solid but never heard of the other you mentioned. Whichever you choose hope you have a great hunt!

Thanks for the replies y’all.

I’m leaning toward Somerby, they came recommended by my taxidermist and I know they have been right next to each other at the Houston Safari Club convention. This might seem minor but, I’ve seen some hides come from Africa that were butchered and seen my taxidermist p’ed off which is not what you want when he’s mounting something.

To the question of calling references, there’s a guy on the list that’s actually just around the corner from me that I’ll be calling for some of my questions.

Check out 4 Aces Safaris. Adam Barnard runs outstanding outfit. This is coming from an outfitter of 20+ years.

I travel a lot in Africa. Used very different Safaris. The last time I was in Kenya and used https://www.natureswonderlandsafari...ented-camp-safari/luxury-flying-safaris/Kenya luxury Safari, I liked it very much. As for the equipment, I would like to say that everything is so cool that they help those who do not have something from the equipment. Kenya has very beautiful wildlife and wild animals. And in general Africa is very beautiful, very good tour agencies. In general, I advise everyone at least once to go to Africa, you will never regret it. Best Safari I have ever seen. If anyone knows what good safari, please advise where you can go. I would be grateful.
