Had lunch there today. Got the rib sandwich plate. Four ribs and two sides. I had coleslaw and green beans. Glad it was as good as always. It's my measuring stick for ribs. The brisket is so so.

Have never had a bad rib at Railhead. Sausage is great too.

I remember when they were in a trailer behind the beer barn on Vickery. Love them!

Man.....I remember that too. Always some sketchy characters hanging around that place back then. Cold azz beer back then too just like now. Always quality Q and one of my favorites.

The one in Willow Park is absolute trash. Worst service in all of Parker County. Parking lot is always full and I cannot understand why for the life of me. I'll give FW a try when in the area.

I don't think they're the same people. I've heard the same from everyone who went there.

Willow park is a franchise. The original man that opened it (Bert) did it right. Good service. Good food and cold beer. Expanded the menu a bit. Ribs and sauce were the same as ft worth. Rail head is not great but solid and it's the way I like ribs. I was there twice a week when I was in town. Bert sold the willow park location around three years ago and food went downhill fast. First time thought it might be just an off day as the ribs were off and went from a whole egg to half egg on salad. Next trip it was awful. Ribs weren't seasoned at all, bbq sauce wasn't mixed as you could taste some of the base ingredients, salad had fake bacon bits and ranch dressing was the consistency of milk. Never been back. I've been surprised at how they continue if they have not improved. But will not go back to that location.

Charlie Geren started the Railhead by hiring the pit boss that worked for Angelo George at Angelo's. Railhead had a location in the Grapevine/Colleyville area that shut down after a few years. I always heard the Willow Park location was never as good as the Vickery location. Being a franchise and multiple owners would explain that. That's too bad. It doesn't help the reputation of the Vickery/Montgomery location. I've had ribs a lot of places and I put Railhead on Vickery as the best for me. Bryan at 407 has the best brisket anywhere plus excellent sides.

Friend took me to that Colleyville location 10-12 years ago and I recall it being way overrated in my book. For the price at the time I was thinking Hard 8 in Coppell was much better. Think I even thought Springcreek was on par with it. He claimed it had undergone new management or ownership and wasn't as good as prior.

So few restaurants can expand and still be as good as the original. Seems like they have to sink to the food quality of the chains. If the owner's not there it's just not as good. It's hard to find people that care as much as you do about your "baby".

Yep. My favorite hamburger place in Tulsa (Goldie's) did that and it was never the same. Goldie Crow made it what it was.
