POS was 'known' to law enforcement, yet again (like so many others, Boulder, Parkland, etc.) nothing was done and here we go.

Have they said what type of firearm he used?

Funny thing about getting older:

see through people's BS gets much better.

Was on the FBI radar, but still had access to firearm. Interesting.

last year he wanted to die by suicide by cop. The police took his gun and still haven’t given it back so he must of picked up another one.

Probably one of those weak-minded losers who made the switch from controller mode to live mode after being let go.

That's a bunch of BS. In his previous contact with law enforcement, he wanted to suicide by cop. The responding officers confiscated his firearm and they still have it in the property room. If he hadn't killed a bunch of folks, would you be crying about red flag laws and his constitutional rights being violated from the previous confiscation of his firearm? Law enforcement is damned if they do, and damned if they don't, by those who don't know anything about the codified laws of our country or how to be a cop. SMDH.

Over 300 million people here

It’s impossible to keep a few from doing terrible things

No law(s) will ever stop that.

My question is where did he get the another firearm? From a legal purchase? If so, since he had known mental issue, how did he pass a background check?

When the few have known documented mental issues and are being treated for it you damn sure can keep them from doing terrible things, you can lock their crazy arses up like we used to do. You can go after the doctors who have them on so many meds they don't know if they're walking straight backwards or sideways. This is being ignored yet it's been the common denominator since the 80's. The deinstitutionalization of the mentally ill has created a dangerous environment for all. We dumped them on the streets and many ended up in prison, then we started dumping them from the prisons putting them back on the streets. One study I read said as much as 30% of those incarcerated were mentally ill. The problem is obvious yet we look every where but directly in front of us.

All you have to do is lie about it and that's the big problem, we have no way of finding out if they're being truthful or not.

Correct, there is no national databank for crazy, mainly due to HIPPA law.

There is a big issue with mental illness and also subclinical mental illness in the form of some online personas, the INCEL groups are borderline crazy, and i am sure there are others, that have a higher propensity to violence against others.

What to do about that “possibility” is “unfortunately” codified in the fourth and fifth amendments, until we as a country want to get completely rid of due process and open up everyone to the possibility of illegal search and seizure, we will continue to see violent acts by a select few because of mental illness and groups that are prone to violent outbusts.

Nope and it's an effort in futility to get someone committed if they chose not to go. Temporary observation isn't that tough but full on commitment ain't easy.
