I'm wondering what a full remodel runs. Contractors, feel free to chime in. Post pics if you have remodeled.

The wife wants a new kitchen..... a Chef's Kitchen at that.

I did mine myself about 8 years ago. Still cost me in the neighborhood of $18-20k with flooring, lighting, pecan cabinets, granite countertops, and appliances.

if you can afford to hire a chef, don't worry about the cost of the kitchen remodel.

Damn, I dont have your skills, I won't even give it a thought. I've been trying to get my new fireplace (premade) installed for the last 6 weeks! I remember what you did with yours, it was impressive. Lol I'm super slow, and not very good at handy work.

Lol, my wife is a foodie. She likes to think she's a cook. I promised her a new kitchen when we bought the house 4 years ago. Time to make good on the promise.

Figure 20k if you're talking new cabinets too. But it can go much higher.
My BIL spent $300k on his a few years ago.

Mine took me over two months. We spent about 7 months doing the entire house. Thankfully we didn't have to live in it during all of that. I've done that before and it sux!

My wife has been patient with my tools being everywhere. She is super good when it comes to things like that.

Gonna be part of the remodel, but yes she's gonna get it. I'm trying to get her to go with the half size cooler and not the 120 bottle one. That makes no sense, and i dont drink that stuff.

Depends on finishes. You could spend $40k on range and refrigerator, $80k on cabinets and another $50k on counter tops and floors.
Or you could do the whole thing for under $20k.

Make sure you can actually get your appliances, before you start.

This 100%. Friends in Allen spent a chit ton of money on a kitchen remodel which was essentially done at the end of March except for all appliances. New appliance delivery date is now 5/17 and even that may change.

Very true.

If you want a "chef's" kitchen and want premium appliances like Wolf/Sub it is gonna be hard to do it for $75k. But you can also get some nice KitchenAid and cut half or more off the cost of the appliances though.

Has anyone been to one of those home and garden shows? Are there contractors there? I've never been, there is one in S.A. this week. Just wondering if this would be a good place to find a contractor to do the work.

We just ordered $26k in cabinets, lots of custom extras, and extra tall, 57” total on the uppers. (Normal is 42”). Ordered all the appliances 2 months ago, the dishwasher was the last piece to be delivered, got it Wednesday. Doing a lot ourselves, but will still have at least $40k in when it’s completed. My wife will have the kitchen she wants, and that is priceless.

Yeah, roger that.

This should be interesting, I'm hoping to get it done for 75k but if its more, so be it. She does make all the money in this marriage, and bust her arse everyday. Probably best to give her what she wants.

Smart man!

Might want to think about double ovens also. Will be needed for the large holiday meals.

You can save a lot by being your own GC. The problem you'll find today is getting good trades. When I remodeled our kitchen it was easy to line everybody up. Today's market is messed up and I'm not sure it would come together that easy. Almost everything is in short supply these days including labor.
