Is there an easy to use reliable site for vehicle values? I can't seem to get NADA Guides or Kelly Blue Book to work anymore?

I would imagine using auto trader as a cross reference would work.

I've worn Autotrader out. I'm burned out on it.

It is so crazy that prices are all over the place. You can price something, but that doesn't mean it brings it.

My son bought a new truck. I want a new truck. I all of a sudden have two real nice older trucks to sell. I think they will require cash because I figure a lender will be tough.

Car market is crazy right now. We just bought a new vehicle for the wife and finance manager sad they sold over 1MM that Saturday! Took 3.5 hrs to check out. Where is all this money coming from? Hell sleepy’s stimulus is not that much money.

Take median value of low and high?

Many people quit or reduced traveling, quit commuting, reduced eating out, etc. U.S. hit the highest savings rate ever since COVID....I read over 2 Trillion in cash sitting in accounts.

OP, I always use KBB to get values.

I guess I didn't know about eBay auto sales. No way in Hell am I buying or selling a used vehicle on the "Bay." I've had bad enough luck there with "NEW" Iphones.

Yes the market appears to be crazy. I think deals for new vehicles may be better had if you want to get on plane. That's just an Autotrader observation.

For whatever it's worth, I'm about to have a 2005 GMC Sierra SLE 1500 4-door with 98,??? miles for sale if I just figure out what it is worth.

Maybe about the same time will be a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT with 118,??? miles.

Even though I don't have a lien on these I may call a banker friend tomorrow for his input. As a Realtor, I've always said, no property is worth a nickle more than a lender says it is worth. However, we are in different times these days.

That is why I think I'm limited to a cash buyer. I think a lender would be tough on older used vehicles right now. I'm in Sulphur Springs. Many years ago I took a car to a Dallas bank for a buyer. I don't want to do that now.

Probably not the best price you will get, but you can get an online offer from CarMax. I have got a lot of offers from them over the years and sold them a few cars. On older vehicles, they seem to offer auction prices, but it would at least be a starting point for you. FWIW, we recently sold them my wife's 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee because they offered $5k above what the dealer was willing to give us on a trade in.

I doubt it. Used vehicle prices are retarded, these days. The best thing you can do is research what people are actually paying for whatever it is your buying or selling.

Carvana.com will give you a firm quote online, and you will probably be surprised at how good it is. A private party sale is likely a couple grand higher than the carvana quote...

I'm always shopping

Cars are getting scarce, Fire in Japanese "chip" plant has killed production.

I'm looking at a Caddie XT5 SUV..........$56K. Cadillac has gone crazy, think their product is something special. Those Days are gone

They want to charge you $1000 for FACTORY installed window tint, Nitrogen in the tires, free car washes. They say , they re-condition these things when they get to the dealership. WHO would fall for this crap.

Make an offer on the vehicle you want, If they take it fine, if not walk.

My little Titan is still worth what I paid for it. Used trucks are at a PREMIUM

True dat. My 2013 Dodge 3500 is worth about $6K more than I paid for it in 2013 new, < 40K miles.

I really like Cadillac's and the XT-5 is the chassis size I prefer but I sure don't like the way they changed the grills, the SRX had a more classic design. The Lincoln Nautilus comes in about the same price and carries about the same horsepower and torque (335 hp and 380 ft-lbs) running a smaller twin turbo 2.7 V-6.

It's amazing how much horse power and torque they're getting out of these little V-6's.

We bought a car for my wife on Sunday.

Seems like you have to use Dealer's retail prices, and another source like NADA or Bluebook to get an average.

We managed to get a good deal 2-3,000 below retail.

I have always had good luck selling with Autotrader and may try that again. I filled out that Edmunds True Car listed above and it came back with an offer from Carmax. I wonder how legit it is? It is almost what I was thinking I would get based on what is on the market now. There are about no GM trucks in the 2005ish year model range. I could just see my wife and I going to Carmax in Tyler in two vehicles, only to get jerked around.

Buying a new vehicle creates lasting misery. A new Jeep Wrangler I bought right at three years ago generated about three robo calls per day for an extended warranty, making that about 1,000 calls to this point. I have thrown away at least 150 junk mailings for the same thing. It's nuts. I'm actually considering a cheap burner phone from Walmart with prepaid minutes for this next go around. Let them Robocall that.

You should see what Dodge does on Autotrader on new trucks. There is a price, but with many qualifiers. If you live in the Northeast one of the qualifiers is owning a piece of Case equipment---seriously? Just what percentage of truck buyers have that? Other qualifiers are being a Veteran, returning a lease vehicle, financing, etc. etc. The final price is thousands higher. It's kind of insulting. It's like "The best price is X, but you don't qualify."

CarMax is good about honoring their offer.

You may try reaching out to Brian Spagnola at TexasMotorCars in Addison. He's on here and the TFF.

I sold a rather expensive used car to CarMax a while back. Drove it up there, got an offer in about 15 minutes. Drove home, picked up the extra set of keys, title, cleaned it out and drove it back up there. They had me a check cut in about another 20 minutes. Got an Uber ride home, Lol. It was a piece of cake.

Carmax is a good way to go. When I was a sales manger I always hated a Carmax quote as it was always higher than the normal market. It is also good for 7 days which gives you time to shop, think, and make a wise decision. Getting ready to get me a new truck in a month or two and that will be the way I will do it.

I'm looking at Ram 1500 Big Horn/Lone Star 4x4 trucks. Prices are all over the map. I drove one here yesterday. I really want to buy here, but would consider traveling if it saved enough.

I'm guessing it could be an economy thing, but there are a LOT of them in MD and KY on Autotrader for a lot less than around here. I haven't called MD or KY yet just to see if the advertised price is close because who wants to go to MD? - not me -- Maybe KY, but not yet. One thing that might happen is that there is one in Idaho that looks priced a lot lower as well. I'm waiting on them to call me back with some info now. My wife and I think it would be fun to fly one way and make a road trip out of it coming home.
