I'm fixing up a '72 F100 and was hoping to get some opinions. I'm trying to decide:

1) Should I upgrade the cassette player?

2) What color should I paint it?

I'm leaning towards white and baby blue like this one:

Don’t you mean ‘upgrade the 8 track player’?

I am fixing or trying to this thing. 1958 Ford F100 I probably don't have enough years to finish it. Worry about colors and player at the end.

In my opinion , keep as close to stock as possible. If the head unit is in good shape you can use it , again keep it as original as possible. I have a old radio , not as old as yours , that I took apart and added blue tooth. It took some soldering and wiring but now the old truck has blue tooth . I can play tunes from my fone from about 30 feet away. Keep us updated . Working on old steel is where the Tin comes from, hehe

If its the original tape deck definitely leave it. If you want newer technology so your music sounds better I'd suggest just running a bluetooth speaker in the cab connected to your phone.

I do like the blue and white.

One of the 1970 Ford colors, medium lime. I had a '69 F100, mine was cream color, a friend also had one, his was the medium lime, I always wanted to have mine painted.

If you ever want to get rid of that, holler at me. I’d never paint it. That thing has great character abs potential as is

You know, I never stopped to think whether or not that cassette player was factory. I just assumed.

I'd go with that original super light, baby puke green. Does the cassette player work? Clean it and install new speakers. No one can see the new speakers. It's about the ride, not the tunes.

Like this? That was my 72, my oldest daughter in the pic tried to take it over. Like a fool I got bored and sold it. I’ve had many 69-79s but I think that was my favorite.

Original was probably just an AM radio. No 8 track player or cassette.

There are supposed to be steel tabs on each side, that are part of the dashboard. The studs of the radio poke through the tabs then you screwed nuts on to hold the radio to the dash, then the knobs followed.

OP,

Add power steering, and at least disc brake in the front. And add power brakes. As far as paint, white and Ford blue would be just fine. If I had my 71' F-100 back it would be painted grey.

Update the stereo or make it original? What are you doing with the rest of the truck? Are yo going all original with it? Or are you going to upgrade the motor, suspension, brakes and steering? There's your answer.

The brake upgrade JG mentioned is #1 for me if it’s a daily driver. Power disc on the front is a great thing. Power steering as well.

I looked it up and you’re right. I’m gonna do some looking and see if I can find one.

I think I'm going to go with black and off-white. It'll look like this except, like I said with an off-white:

[Linked Image]

What do y'all think? I like the powder blue and white but it's a lot harder (and a lot more expensive) to get everything inside to match. It was originally green.
