I have some Scheels Rewards and a couple of gift cards. With their 20% off sale I'm getting one. Jackets that I hunt in need great hardware. I have a few mid priced jackets with rusted/oxidized snaps and busted zippers. I need good hardware, at least four pockets, good wind resistance and medium warmth when worn unlayered. I have about a five mile atv ride one way. I can always layer up if need be.

Who has Jet Stream or Stratus?

I have the Jetstream jacket and highly recommend it. It is very windproof and will shed snow and rain to some degree. I wore it over a puffy on my Montana elk hunt this year and was never cold. I don't think you will be disappointed.

I have the Stratus and i love it and think it is the perfect Texas hunting jacket. Nice fit and not bulky at all.

I have the Jetstream as well. It's the more durable of the two jackets you mentioned. The Stratus is a few ounces lighter, more streamed lined/slimmer fit and more geared towards archers in stand with safety harness. Obviously it can be used for any situation but that's what it's marketed towards. As Daniel Boone mentioned....The Jetstream over a down puffy is the way to go when it comes to a versatile layering system. Only other jacket one would need is a waterproof/goretex shell and you can layer anything and everything underneath for any situation.

I have the status and like it, though I have not worn it a ton as I have other Stika's I tend to wear first.

If you need - extreme, really extreme - warmth, think about the fanatic.

Both jetstream and stratus are great jackets for their intended purposes. Jetstream is a great active jacket or worn with layers for a box blind. I have worn it plenty in tree stands for crossbow hunting but it does get a little scratchy/crinkly sounding so true bow hunting would be difficult with it. For active wear, it is hard to beat. Pit zips are awesome for dumping heat and it does have a decent dwr finish with a hood so it sheds light precip well. Good pockets and plenty of them.

Stratus is designed for a specific purpose, bow hunting. As mentioned it has passthru for treestand hunting safety harness and has a good windblocker in it that makes it wear warmer than it is. It is significantly quieter than the jetstream really noticeable on a quiet calm day. You can move in the stand with this system and deer wont hear it. It has a mild dwr so it will shed light precip as well, and the new design has a good hood, so to me both jackets are oretty much the same in that regard. I “feel” the windblocker is a little better in the stratus than the jetstream but my jetstream is several years older so it may just be a different fabric used then vs now.

So, depending on where you hunt and your intended purposes, i would highly recommend eirher jacket, just know what you are getting in either jacket. The benefit of the stratus is the ability to pair with stratus bibs or pants and have a complete system (the bibs are great btw, pants are really good) where the jetstream does not have a comparable pant. Again its about purpose. I use kuiu axis or attacks or even prana zions for more active hunts where i wouldn’t use the stratus line. Different needs for different hunting styles

I havea Jetstream. It’s an awesome jacket. I about choked when I purchased it because of the price, but holy cow it’s worth every penny. Had it for two years now.

Bought the Jetstream. The pockets are handy as hell. There's like 6 in all. The drawstrings at the waist that pull up through the pockets so you don't have long cords hanging off your waist are well thought out. I put it on and took a spin on my ATV, 30 mph on a cold day. I don't think you could drive a needle through this jacket, no wind or cold penetration. Size Large, true to the size guide, fits great. I can see layering up with extra long sleeve thermal shirt on a really cold day and being fine. Sale on through 2-21.

I have been able to fit a base, mid, and light puffy under my jetstream all at the same time and dont feel at all too constricted. Its a very versatile jacket.

I have taken it down into the 20’s for stationary hunting with the above, though it does seem to get a little noisier when it gets colder. For rifle hunting no big deal.

I have an original Jetstream from 2010. Back then it had no hood. I still wear it all the time. Great for windbreaking jacket and will shed some moisture, snow very well.
I have had no issues with it and it still looks great.

One more vote for Jetstream. Have the jetstream beanie too. With layering can combat almost any weather condition here for sure.
