I wouldn't buy a replacement pistol. You're dad should have told you it was in the truck. Had you know you might have taken different precautions. He's chit out of luck IMO.
Auto insurance should pay for door damage minus any deductible. From what my State Farm agent to me is his State Farm policy would have to cover the damage to the door. After as much of a fu$# stick as he’s acting like I just took the damn truck to a body shop and had it repaired. Almost $800 out of pocket. My agent said my homeowners policy could cover the pistol but my deductible is high enough I’d have to buy 3 plus pistols to make it worth using insurance. Cabo thanks for the offer but knowing him he wants an exact replacement down to the color in 45. He’s gonna get an ultra carry with crimson trace grips in 45 but whatever color I can find and the best price.

Sounds like you've got it covered. For the record though, when I loan my son or anyone else my vehicle, I remove the firearms. The responsibility lies with the firearm owner unless someone else assumes responsibility.

Had to borrow my dads truck a couple days ago, first night I had it in my driveway some scum bag piece of [censored] motherfu$@er decide to pop the lock (F250) on it and break in. My dad didn’t let me know there was a pistol in the console until I called him at 0300 to say his truck got broke into.
On top of that I may be getting a write up at my PD because the LT says I should have secured the gun that I didn’t know was there in a truck that is the most commonly to break into and even steal. Where’s the face palm emoji?
Now I not only need to pay for my vehicle repairs which is why I needed to borrow his truck I’ve gotta pay for the door on his to be fixed and buy a Kimber Ultra Carry II with crimson trace grips to replace his.
If anyone has one for sale or know someone who does please send me a PM. SO. even if it was secure in a lock box, oh, they wouldn't take that????
hold on Newt, we got a runaway

Try getting on at a local Fire Department, all your city benefits should transfer, just a thought.

If anybody deserves to get written up by the police it is your Dad, not you. He is responsible for his firearms, not you. He let you borrow a vehicle with a firearm in it without your knowledge and expects you to replace it? This is all kind of screwed up. In my opinion you should not be paying for his firearm replacement. If you had been aware of the firearm in the truck and did not take measures to protect it from theft then it would be your fault. By not telling you it was in the truck means he did not take measures to protect it from theft. It is all on him.

Make your padre prove the pistol was in the vehicle, if he can provide proof then offer SOME cash for the loss.

Unfortunately I’m used to this behavior on his part, he’s been like that my whole life. So much so that his number has been blocked in my phone for days and after this is all wrapped up it’s pretty much adios to him. Not sure how to handle it with my kids getting to see him and their grandma.
I posted this looking for help finding a pistol now I think it should be in the off topic. Lol
I appreciate the help fellas

I appreciate the help fellas Yea, my dad acted out (used some very racist language in front of my wife and kid) once...he got his azz thrown out the front door, told him not to come back until he got his behavior straightened out. Have not had a problem since... The gun loss is HIS fault, period. Stand up for yourself, don't let him run all over you.
Initial Success or Total Failure If you're going to be stupid, you'd better be tough. Go stick your pecker in someone else’s business.
