We've never had them this bad. Anyone else having problems with them? Do yall know if anything can be done to combat them?

Google "cankerworms" I'm thinking that's what you have.

Those are inchworms (web worms here), a couple sprays during the Spring with soapy dishwater and they are done.
Gotta spray heavy though

Sevin dust 5% works on army worms. It is one of the milder insect killers out there.

Gotta spray heavy though I have had webworms on my pecan trees. I get them sprayed by a neighbor known as the Tree Doctor. He uses Thruicide. It comes out of the hose with a string blast. He has a little magic button that will make a mist and aims that at my vegetable garden. Just like aiming a shotgun..

I'm gonna have to do something, they stripped all the oak trees in the back yard! Crazy thing is they wanted nothing to do with the cedar elm
Appreciate all the feedback.

I am not through accessing my winter damage but it looks as if I will have to replace more than I repair. That is a little more than I am willing to handle.

Thuricide or other Bt products are your best bet for any soft bodied worms.

Any nursery or feed store will be able to show you whar they have if you just ask for Bt for caterpillars.
You need to be able to spray it up into the trees.

They are mostly on the ground now. We called our pest control people, and they said they aren't harmful to the trees, but I've gotta imagine it ain't good either....
I've got to read up on their reproduction process, because I've got to imagine they will probably be worse next year. We had them last year, but nothing like this year.
