No, this is what brought it on

Either way is acceptable. I lean towards no comma in that sentence. People often overuse commas when writing. Of course these days, few people pay attention to grammar and punctuation.

Im not good at this stuff. I am always trying to decide when to use a comma, and I probably use too many. I remember almost nothing from English class, and just try to rely on common sense, but I know I fail often.

When I was in grade school, decades ago, both were correct. I remember because teacher marked the second version wrong on a test we had. Several of us found it in our grammar book and showed it to her.

Ok, so I finally think I understand the title and thus the question. If you know what youre after i can see how the title of thread may make sense but reading it cold its very confusing. I still havent opened the Masters thread so maybe that would of helped.
Let me reword what youre trying to ask and correct me if wrong.... "Is it proper to put a comma before "and" in a sentence?"

I would never suggest seeking grammatical guidance through the THF!

"Me and my wife . . ."
"There dog bit me . . ."
"Your a lucky man . . ."
"I plan to sale some guns . . ."
