So i was doing some bb gun shooting with my little boy this weekend. He struggles with acquiring a sight picture in the scope on his bb gun which I recognize is a complete and utter piece of crud. So i got the idea to let him shoot my 10/22 which has a not great or even good by any means simmons 3x9 i bought from walmart 25 years ago as a kid. He right away says the scope is way better and he loves the 22 because he doesn't have to [censored] or pump it lol, but the trigger pull on the 10/22 is pretty heavy, enough to the point he says its hard for him to pull and he wants to shoot the bb gun again.

I have heard the triggers ruger used in them were pretty sorry for a long time, but it never bothered me enough to mess with, but I'm sure this will be his gun some day and even if it isnt I'd like him to be able to shoot it more now. Yall have any recommendations on replacement triggers and cost?

Rugger makes a BX replacement trigger for about $75. It's not competition level but better than a stock trigger. All kinds of replacement sears are available as well. Of course, you can spend $100 to $250 and get an even better trigger.

Kyle is a 10/22 expert and likely will have better info.

The Ruger BX trigger would probably be your lowest cost option. I think they're between $75 - $100 and would be better than the factory trigger. Very easy replacement.

There are also a bunch of trigger kits available that will replace some of the factory components like springs and sear with much better quality parts. I did that on my 10/22 and my 77/22 and it helped the triggers quite a bit on both rifles. You need some skills but it's not too difficult. Youtube has videos you should take a look at if you have any doubts.

Or you could bite the bullet and spend $250+ for a really good replacement trigger.

Volquartsen replacement seat is an easy mod, and costs about $35

You can send your trigger group to a couple places and have a trigger job done, price starts at about $75... I've had good results from Connecticut Precision Chambering (1st choice) and Brimstone Gunsmithing (close 2nd).

Besides the ruger BX version mentioned above, you can buy a complete new trigger group from several sources... prices start in the low $100 - ie Hornet Custom - and can hit 3x that pretty quick. Volquartsen and Kidd are two of the higher end sellers. In that price range Kidd would be my 1st choice.

I’m very happy with the BX trigger, (the only Ruger part left on my gun), it breaks cleanly at 2 3/4 lbs. I don’t think I’d want a young child shooting with anything much lighter.

I’ve got the Ruger BX trigger in my takedown, and it is a significant upgrade from factory. It’s a simple drop in, and only took a few minutes to install. For my purposes it fit the bill nicely, and I think I paid around $55.00 or so, but that’s been years ago. As others have mentioned, there are plenty of options out there depending on your budget and needs.

Ruger BX - easy peasy.

Like Tim said BX trigger will be a good upgrade over the original trigger and is easy drop in. I run the KIDD trigger job kit in mine and I like it a lot. Next step up for me would be there $320 drop in 2 stage trigger. If you’re handy you can install it yourself it’s not hard, but if you don’t like tinkering I’d get the BX Drop In.

Thanks for the reply’s I’ll look into the River bx sounds like a good fit. So far we have been single feeding super colibre’s in it so no worries of repeated fire.

You’ll like it. I’m also running the bx in mine, and for the money and how easy it is to drop in, it’s hard to beat.
