Headed to Florida yesterday by way of I-20. From the east side of Weatherford to the east side of Dallas it took 2 hours. I've never seen such traffic madness, came to a complete stop 8 times. No wrecks or construction just a mass of vehicles merging onto 20 and bringing traffic to a complete standstill. Never again! Used to make that run in 40 minutes. I don't know how you folks living in that area deal with it, y'all tougher than I am.

This ^^^^^^ is why I leave somewhere between 3-9 PM and drive at night....no rush hour (scheduled to avoid), commuters, school busses, etc, fewer cops and less traffic. Thermos of coffee, full tank of gas, and classic rock on the radio....me and mostly trucks on the road....cruise set at 85 and roll to the piss/fuel stops. EDIT: And everyone else in the car is asleep so I have peace and quiet....

Traffic is back to its normal suckiness around here. People going back to work is cool. But I did like the traffic during lock-down, rush hour pretty much went away.

Traffic on 20 is a circus in Weatherford every Friday. You can count on a minimum of 2 wrecks before you hit Aledo.

I havent really understood where they are stacking all these califfornians in at. Its not like the land suddenly grew hundreds of miles. You drive through the neighborhoods and and there's mostly 7 vehicles for every house. We should be fine when they flip the switch on to these "smart" cities.

Big part of the problem was two things. 1. Friday's traffic is always busier than other days with people getting off early from work, going out of town to?? 2. It was also Good Friday yesterday and a lot more people were off work than usual which means a lot more folks going out of town for the long Easter weekend which adds to the already messed up Friday traffic to start with. Enjoy your trip

Yesterday was Friday. That’s the worst day for traffic craziness. It was always like that in Houston, and from what I saw here in the boondocks yesterday, it isn’t just a problem in the big cities. People are just nuts on Friday.

Sometimes I think I should move back to the metro mess to be closer to family- then I go see them and deal with what you just went through and it reaffirms my place is out west. I’d rather drive the death highway (285) between pecos and Carlsbad than ft worth or Dallas at 5pm

20 years ago, I-20 was so freaking easy and fast to traverse the south end of the metroplex. Nowadays, I-30 might be your best bet.

Easier to take the back roads. Long drive, but better scenery and less traffic. But even those roads are getting to be a mess.

Current location? Vicksburg Mississippi, stopped to hit the casino's and make another run through the battlefield. Headed to Destin Fla in the AM. Stay there a few days and then take the southern route back and hit a few more casino's in Louisiana.

Agree with Snake. Last year going to Destin we left McKinney at 3:00 AM and it was very light traffic. Had us arriving 12 hrs later right at check in time.
Also agree with Bill, I love to play craps

Traffic will be very heavy starting on I 10 Pensacola to Destin because the Pensacola to Gulf Breeze bridge that was under construction (AKA 3 mile Bridge). The new bridge was heavy damaged by construction barges and cranes that broke loss during Hurricane Sally. All Pensacola to Beach and to Gulf Breeze traffic is diverted to I 10. Friend lives in Gulf Breeze and take the Garcon bridge to Pensacola and take him 3 hour most days. If you want to bypass heavy Mobile traffic at the tunnels try the Africa town bridge. It can save you 1-2-3 hours of tunnel traffic on Friday and weekend. It has always been smooth sailing and easy to get back on I10 at west side of bay. Hwy 98 to I65N to Hwy45 to Hwy90 (Bay Bridge Road AKA Africa Town Bridge)GL

I remember traffic in Destin being pretty crappy. Depends on when you go down there, that's why we go in the off season. Spring break or once school is out forget it. I've walked out of the house and only seen 2 people on the beach right after Spring break.
