He bought this rig, with a $335 bipod, $130 case and he's about $600 out for ammo. He got about $6K all in with taxes.

Thing weighs a TON he's a tall , muscled up guy, so I guess he can handle it. Gun is definitely built for sitting or prone.

Me, I own one AR, its in pistol configuration.

That's the only thing I dislike about my 7-08 AR. It really is a rifle meant for stationary use. I wouldn't want to haul it around all day. The flip side is recoil is almost nonexistent due to the weight and caliber.

I hope your outfitter allows ARs on prairie dog hunts. Several I have looked at won’t. I bought a bolt gun last year because it opens up other places to hunt.

I also would not want to feed a 6mm creedmore AR on a weekend prairie dog shoot. I easily shoot 300-400 times in 2 days of shooting.

A fool and their money.

No it's not built for prone, no AR is.

Wouldn't want to feed it either.

300-400 rounds a day is my norm.

.223 Rem is the best choice for the prairie dog towns. Even though I've been using a .22-250. Once the barrel is cooked (and it's close) I'm out of the .22-250 business.

Same here. Hate the damn things but they have a purpose.

I have five but have never had the warm fuzzies for them. They are a tool that gets the job done. Nothing more, nothing less.

I bought one 14 years ago. Took it out twice and shot a few magazines through it, maybe 50 rounds. Been in the safe since.

I wasn't in to them much. But if I want 556 204 6.5 or anything else, just swap the lower.

I have a few ARs and I like them but I actually prefer the Mini 14. Too bad they don’t shoot as well as an AR.

If you don't own enough AR's to outfit everyone on your block, well then you ain't American smile I do my part. But hey, I think I read the wrong kinds of books.

One of mine I carry in my truck because I know what it's for.

I agree! Take the time to get to know an M1 and you'll never want to part with it.

haha, the collective consensus is about how I feel too. I got a couple ars that I like and maintain, both keeping the skills adequate and firearm operable. BUT i love some my bolt guns the more I shoot. The 223/556 in in a bolt gun i highly underrated, IMHO. I even have an ar set up more for long range and I still love the wife's 223 tikka more by a country mile.

I own an AR for only one reason. That is, to be better prepared to defend my family and property should I ever find myself in a position where local law enforcement is being overwhelmed. Until then, it's pretty much a safe queen.
