I have a lot of designer furniture I need to sell. It’s located in Eastland County so an estate sale is not the best option. This is all well made, expensive stuff that’s been well taken care of. What is the best way to get rid of this furniture without giving it away?

Furniture is hard to resell for a good price unless it’s antique that redone farmhouse stuff.

I would take it to a larger city that has a consignment store if not in any hurry. Price high and slowly lower with time.

I’d like to haul it somewhere it could all be sold. $300K in furniture new, not counting the art and accessories. Mom was an interior decorator and is downsizing houses. The old man died at Christmas and she is moving over my direction. He worked all day every day to keep up their place and it is too much for her. Just the bids on mowing the yard are crazy. Selling it all myself On the internet one stick at a time won’t work.

I am sorry for the loss of your dad.

My mom passed and was an antique dealer for years....some very high end stuff, didn't want to wait for the right buyer and hold on to the stuff so it had to go in an estate sale. I know that is not a viable option for you but be prepared to sell for pennies on the dollar.

You wouldn’t believe what the mark up on furniture is and she got it all at cost. She’s a talented lady. Check out all of the Wilk’s buildings in Cisco. That was her last job before retirement.

I had to pay someone to haul off 4500 bucks worth of solid oak, mint condition furniture last November. I tied to sell it everywhere mentioned here so far and then even tried donating it. Nobody wanted it.

Have a lady that wants to do an estate sale for me. She talks a good game...it all sounds good. She’s definitely a sales person. Have a friend that used her and it worked out well so that’s the route I think I’m going.

I did a flip house about five years ago that came with everything. It was an estate and full of what I called high end. I can't imagine a home with $300,000 in furniture. We're your parents movie stars?

Anyway, I tried selling a $10,000 dining room set (new price) for a few hundred bucks. That half ton monstrosity is in our kitchen/dining area now. It got all stripped down and is waiting on something from "Pinterest." She chalk painted the chairs and put off the table for the time being. My guess is the chairs weren't just right and it all may get something else.

After the table sale failure I gave away everything else. No time to deal with it.

I would have very low expectations,,, very low. People that can afford high end furniture buy it new, not used. So now you are dealing with avg to low end people. Auction is probably your best bet.
