How's the barrel life vs the 1500 rounds on a 300 win mag?

I'll let you know how many rounds it takes to go south. I do not know how long it will last.

It ain't no .300 Win Mag, and it wasn't built with concern for barrel life. grin

Who sees 1500 out of a win mag? I’ve never had one go past 800 rounds and shoot under an inch at 100 yards. 300 jarret is even worse.

At 200 yards perpendicular from the muzzle when it's fired it sounds like something that should be mounted on top of a military vehicle............just sayin it's a BEAST!!

Glad I had my hearing protection on at that distance

I was at JG's today shooting my 6.8's and he brought it out and center punched the 700 yd target cold bore then nailed the 800. That thing has some serious blast.

What trigger did you use? I didn't see it listed.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I did forget that, and cannot edit.

Trigger Tech "Primary" turned down as low as it will go.

Badger Ordnance C.I.P. bottom metal and 5 round mag.

Nice build, looks great. It has added food for thought, I have a new 30 cal 1:8 barrel sitting in the shop right now and two different actions, I just can’t decide what to chamber it in. I got a 300 PRC reamer in route, but am now having 2nd thoughts at this point.

Investigate powder capacities.

Can't remember which company I contacted. But, if you've already got the action and bolt, they are willing to open up the bolt face if needed.

Stretched the legs on it yesterday.

24" X 24" plate

We got just below the top of the hill so the target wouldn't be skylining. Lasered back a couple of hills and set up for the first shot. 1444 yards. My weather meter wasn't cooperating, so I had to guess and plug in temp and D.A. Calculator gave 10.9 Mils elevation. Tony said "what do you think for wind hold?" I said, "I'm going to start with a 10 mph hold and work from there. Held left 1.8 Mil and let-er fly. 1.98 seconds later I saw impact high center and called it. Tony said sumbit*ch!! Longest cold bore shot I've ever made. We were both super excited. I came down .1 Mil and sent a second one, got that hit too. Then got off the rifle for Tony to have a shot. So hits #2 and #3 were two different shooters. They are 4 1/2" apart.

Done with that, we loaded the rifle in the side by side and backed up again. We managed to get right at a mile, 1760 yards.I started with a 2.5 Mil left hold, but it splashed down wind. I corrected it with a 3.0 Mil left hold and connected. We saw it .1 Mil low and made the correction in the scope, for a total of 15.0 Mil elevation. Again, I got off the rifle and let Tony have a turn. He tried two but the wind made for a miss left and a miss right. He didn't want to cook the barrel so he stopped.

Very happy with this rifle! It only has 48 rounds down the barrel and is still on virgin brass.

View from the target. Red dots on the hills are the firing positions.

Haven’t yet. I have a 9.3x62 or a 350 REM mag that should, work pretty well. My buddy shot several nilgai 25 years ago with a 300 Win Mag and factory 200 grain Trophy Bonded Bear Claws. The meat was delicious. I shot an Oryx with my 308 win In December. Worked great but that is the biggest animal I’ve shot thus far with a 308. I just picked up the meat last weekend and I’d rank it and nilgai at the top of my list.
