Wish I had a place to do this again. Back in the 80's I raised some. I got 2 dozen in the spring and ended up with over a hundred by the end of the summer. And also had lots of eggs to eat.

Wish I had a place to do this again. Back in the 80's I raised some. I got 2 dozen in the spring and ended up with over a hundred by the end of the summer. And also had lots of eggs to eat. Yep you'll be overrun with eggs. They lay one per day mostly in the afternoon. We eat them all the time ratio is about 3 quail eggs to one chicken egg.

Just moved and gave away my quail rack and stock. Can't wait to get back to raising them. Awesome on the grill and just fun all around.

I wouldn't call coturnix upland birds
they're more Caged birds
fat and lazy, bred for quick meals
watch one fly and you'll laugh your socks off
If you want more game birds I can sell you
breeding pairs of
Gambel

Bobwhites Had to post in this section so no one would tell me I was in the wrong section. I posted here because there Quail. They have been domesticated for over 2000 years and they don't fly very well. We raise them for meat and eggs, pretty tasty once on the plate. If I had a large flight pen I'd be raising the other varieties. They are a blast and excellent eating. You don't have to justify to NOBODY! Thanks for sharing and enjoy them as I know you will.
