I buy it where it's the cheapest, whether that means hauling it or going to get it after I get to the lease. I prefer to get it on the way, if I leave early enough before the stores close. Not sure where corn is $9/bag, but that alone would make the decision for me. Mumme's was cheaper than anybody else, this past week. They had apple corn for $7.50/bag. That's what others charge for regular corn. My only issue with waiting to get it after we get to the lease is, like someone else said, feed stores close early on Saturdays and are closed on Sundays. That makes it tough to do if I plan on a morning hunt.

Another thought is bulk corn is about $5.50 per bushel. A bushel is 56 pounds. If you have a way to handle it you could save a fair amount of coin feeding that much volume. They make huge bags that hold one ton each that cost about $20. You can get a gravity wagon that has an auger for about 5k. It will hold ten tons. Lots of options.

What would be the cost to have a local feed store go out and fill those feeders? They would have the ability to haul out corn in a hopper.

Theres a lot more to filling a feeder than just filling a feeder. We check everything about the feeder every time we fill and take notes. Not leaving that to anyone outside the group. Thanks for all the info guys. Im good now but keep on with ideas if want.

I used to have a bunch of plastic 5 gallon buckets and a 20x20 tarp, I would set all the buckets in the bed of the pickup on top of the tarp. The guy att he feed store, would fill the bed. All the excess tarp would be pulled over the load and tied down. To fill the feeders, I would drive up to the feeder, from the bed of the pickup I could lift the feeder lid, fill using the full buckets, Then fill the empty buckets with all of the corn that was caught on the tarp under the buckets.
Convenient, easy, and no damn 50 pound sacks. The extra corn stored in the cabin with lids, basically rodent proof until needed. Used that method until the kids were big enough to man handle the sacks.

You can still check everything as you would normally do. You just won't have to load, haul and unload the corn.
