As Ox might say "im a noticer". Well when going over the long Hwy 66 bridge over Lake Ray Hubbard there is a walking/running lane on the north side of the bridge. Along the entire length of the bridge/walking lane there is a chain link fence to make sure idiots dont fall in the lake. All along the fence there are pad locks just randomly locked on the fence. Last year there were probably a couple of hundred of them and right now there is maybe around 100 or so. There seems to be no pattern to where they are placed but there has to be an explanation as to why they are there.

Anyone know why??

"Love Locks". Tradition or ritual a couple does when they want to be locked in love forever. They put the lock on together, then ceremoniously throw the keys in the water. It started in Paris on the bridge over the Seine many years ago, expanded all over Europe to lots of cities. My kids did it in Prague on their "destination" wedding years ago. Kinda stupid, and when there gets to be too many, they cut them all off and kids start again!!!

Yep. They're on our pedestrian bridges on campus.... not a lake under the bridge, just a 6 lane road.

You dang right it did!! I can stop for lunch (most fast food places are take out only still) and when I park to eat I have to keep the windows up to keep all the homeless panhandlers away. Even then some of them will still tap on your window. Feels more like downtown Dallas every day. I really have no problem with homeless folks but I do have a problem with the begging. There are a few I see that are friendly and never ask for a thing, but the rest are pests that you cant legally exterminate. And crime......yep lets dont talk about how much I have seen crime jump with the awesome addition of the DART train.

Yep. Pretty much can get all answers here. Not sure the gaining on this knowledge was worth an ALL CAPS title, but thats ok JCB. I never heard of the lock thing either so I guess it was worth the click.
