I don't know if he is still there but there was an antique store in downtown Jefferson, TX that had a huge selection of Case knives for sale. He had 4 or 5 display cases about 5 feet tall just full of nothing but Case. I couldn't resist it and had to buy one from him to replace the Case 380 that I lost. The one i bought is not a 380 but it's close. It's now my carry knife.

I've got 15-20 Case knives, mostly from 20+ years ago and nowdays collect more modern locking folders but mostly all US made. There's alot of great companies making knives in the US,

The popular slipjoint brand people collect now is GEC. They still make knives on their old equipment and so don't turn out alot of numbers. That means when they do release a run they sell immediately, as in seconds sometimes.

There are some good brands out there that aren't US made but aren't chinese either. Lionsteel and Viper I believe are both Italian made and make slipjoints. Boker makes alot of slipjoints as well but you have to pay attention to their subbrands. The boker tree brand is German but some Boker plus brand knives are chinese and Boker Magnum are mostly chinese. Boker is pretty transparent about where each knife is made though

Mike Latham at collector knives is a good place to buy more traditional style knives. He's in Oklahoma and is one of the few GEC dealers as well as has his own designs with, I think, Lionsteel and Viper.

That’s a badass website. I’ll definitely start buying from him.

I’ve been buying Case with Stag scales for some time. Even in the same pattern the difference in the Stag make them unique. I started with Trappers but started branching out to others.

I don't "collect" them but I have 6 or 7 of them that are my go to hunting knives. They sharpen easily, hold an edge well and are reasonably tough. I don't know how many deer, elk and pronghorns I have field dressed and skinned with them but it is well over 100.

I used to do the rough in on their dies many years ago when they hot stamped then after they went to ounch press. I had all the dies for many of their folders. I finally gave the last ones, all the dies used to make the Case Stockman to a Case collector. Even right now I know where one of the large display cases is. It's still wrapped up in its original bands and cardboard. It was never un wrapped. Sometimes they were shipped with knives. No one knows on this one since it was never un wrapped.

Mom had some knives that were my grandpa's that she gave my son today for our collection we're starting. Three Boker Tree brands, slip joint kabars, old Remingtons and Schrades. Pretty cool. I'm gonna start a thread.
