22-250 is the caliber. What’s a realistic distance for PD’s, most likely in New Mexico or Utah.

I’ve shot them from 100 out to 750 in CO with a 6-24 on a 223AI. ETA...most shots were 150 out to about 400.

I've killed them from 10 feet (.22lr) to 700 yards, and everything in between. Same scope you'd use in a long range rifle match. So Mil/Mil FFP for me.

Once the day heats up, there will be mirage. Although my scope went to 24x (Zeiss Diavari 6-24x56) most of the time I was down in the 16-18x range to mitigate mirage. Went 5 years in a row in May and every trip was very similar in weather conditions. Something to consider and prepare for.

As far as you can see them. I use a 3x9 normally, wish I had a bigger scope on my 22-250

Take all of them, If you get in a good area you will shoot all the ammo you bring, and it helps to rotate guns to let them cool

No clue since have zero experience. However, I'm sure you need something with a big front lens!
All jokes aside, I imagine there will be many of suggestions but one feature I think gets underrated are scope sporting 56mm lens. I assume this will be a fairly stationary rig, meaning weight/size is not too important to keep down. Don't know exactly why but I find the really large objective lens easier to see through.
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

Should have stopped at the first sentence. I've never gone out there with a 56mm objective. You need a broad magnification range, really good glass, and FFP. The mirage will get bad enough that you'll need to turn down from maximum magnification. I hold most shots less than 400 yards, and dial beyond that. You'll deal with wind at all angles all day long. It's probably the best wind training I've ever done. What is needed: At least two centerfire rifles. 600 rounds per day. Really good laser. Suppressed rifles are a game changer on public land dogs.
