I am in Covid quarantine so I went out by myself the other night. Called a coyote up with my Carver mouth call and shot her. While I was loading stuff back up in the truck I saw a lone pig coming out across the field, cutting through the cows.

I grabbed my tripod and went on the stalk. Got within 120 yards or so but couldn't move closer because of a fence. It was a boar about 175 lb or so. Shot him with the Grendel and the old Sierra 85 HP. He went straight down.

When I got back to the truck I saw a small sounder all the way across the field full of cows. I put the Hogster in my roof mount, connected to a video screen on my dash. I went lights out and drove as close as I could but with cows in the field that wasn't very close. Had to make a hard stalk weaving between cows and being very careful of a wind that was barely OK for what I had to do. I got within 70 yards and had to stop, but they were feeding closer and I let them come a bit more.

I opened up and dropped a very pregnant mama on the spot. I had to shoot very slow and deliberate because of cows in the background. That is why I shoot frangible varmint bullets on pigs though. I don't like bullet bounce at night. Ended up with 4 out of that batch. Sow 225+, and 3 of the 50-60 lb half grown pigs from her last litter.

5 pigs and a coyote on a solo hunt. Worked out pretty good and I got a good bullet test in for the 85 HP.

Several places sell them. They are called a hitch drag. It worked really good. Drug the four about 3/4 mile, and had the 5th added on for about half of that. It probably had about 600 lbs on it, give or take. It sure is fast and easy though.

And thanks for the complements guys.

We were dragging a hog behind the Ranger awhile back, and got back to HQ, and I got out... No hog! No idea where it came loose. Someone found it though... smile

Just used an old nylon ratchet strap that had broken. Need to up our game on that. It's too hard and nasty to throw half a dozen hogs up in a pickup too.

I really like these drags with the cables. They work just like a hog snouter. Get the cable behind the big top teeth and when it cinches tight it stays. I have had hogs come loose several times dragging with a rope by the feet or something.

And yeah, forget that loading stuff in the bed if you don't have to.
