I've been dating a woman for a little over three months. She is 32 so 10 years younger than me, beautiful, tiny, and Asian. It has been a whirlwind. She likes to go places, we have been on vacation to Florida twice and other places. I'm retired though with nothing going but time so thats great to me. I've pretty much fallen for her even though I didn't want to. Problem is she has some emotional issues. I think bipolar. Its been down right tough at times. The smallest thing can set something off. We've broken up three times in the last month and a half for a few hours each time. I may be getting tired of working to hold this thing together though. She wants me with her every free minute which I like as well. I even hang out at her work some days as she wants me to. That's good with me as well. Things have moved very fast as I'm basically living with her. Its the constant stress of when the next shoe is going to drop thats getting to me.
Have any of you walked away from someone you were in love with?

My mother’s second husband was bi-polar, and she would advise you to run away from this relationship. Congrats on being retired at 42!

Walk! I was single for 15 years and used the three month approach. Date them for three months and you will see the good bad and the ugly. If it is mostly the latter two I walked. Took me a long time to find the right one and it is still rocky at times but the good outshines the bad.

It is your decision. It has to clear your head, all the advice in the world won't answer your question.

Yes, I have walked away from a crazy chick, it's just not worth it. Beauty is only skin deep, crazy is to the bone and will dominate everything else in your relationship.

All I'll say is a situation like that can end up in a way you could never prepare for or imagine, especially if meds are involved.

I was in a relationship similar to described years ago though I was dang sure not retired, got married and less than 2 years later divorced. I would say RUN,

Listen to everything said already! Cut your losses, both emotional and cost, now! Marriage won't change her. I've known a few that dealt with bi-polar spouses. Each ended in divorce.

Yeah, my last fiancee was like that. I won't ever get into a serious relationship again...unless she's rich, soft in the head, has a bad heart, and no family...then, yeah, I'll take the crazy long enough to inherit the riches. I ain't putting up with crazy for less.

7 billion people in this world, and just under half are female...you'll find another one pretty dang easily.

The fact you ask here gives reason to pause. I was suddenly single at 42.

I ran away when they were not as good for me as I was for them. Sounds self centered, but I knew I couldn't be forever good for them, if they couldn't be forever good for me.

I needed someone who could stand beside me. I didn't have it in me to carry anyone and couldn't have someone carry me.

One thing about mid life relationships...........What you see is what you get.

Sorry to be blunt, but you’re 42 not 18. Too many trips in too short of time. Anyone can get along on vacation. Hanging out at her job? Come on man. Run, and don’t look back. Life is too short to deal with that BS.
