What do you use to keep them off of you when walking to your blinds and stands, that doesn't have a smell to it or aggravate your skin?

I use powdered sulfur in an old sock. Hardly any smell and seems to work great.

I used to just use regular insect repellent but the ticks seemed to be getting worst so I tried the Permethrin spray, you treat your pants, etc. Turkey season can be bad because you are on the ground versus a tree stand. Chiggers, I don't mind as much as ticks.

I'm following this as well. I hunt in the Trinity River Bottoms and have grown up down there my entire life. Have not found anything to keep the chiggars away without spraying half a bottom of "OFF" on my waist line, boots, and my sock line. That gets expensive after the month of June...

Used to work with an old gentleman in the oil field who wore flea and tick dog collars around his boots/ankles to repel ticks and chiggers. No direct knowledge if it worked, but could be worth a try.

I always spray my boots (NEVER on my skin) with Deep Woods OFF!. I get it free at work. Have hunted seriously since 1998 in tall grasses of the Hill Country, East Texas Squirrel woods & South Texas for the last 10 years. Never a single tick or chigger.
I have been doing Apple Cider Vinegar for the last two years for blood sugar control. Had no idea it wood work for bug control so that's an added benefit.

Used to work with an old gentleman in the oil field who wore flea and tick dog collars around his boots/ankles to repel ticks and chiggers. No direct knowledge if it worked, but could be worth a try. I knew several soldiers who did this. I'm not sure how safe it is long-term, but they swore by it for ticks. We use cedar-cide spray for chiggers and it's awesome. Spray your boots and lower pant legs and the chiggers don't bother you. Smells like cedar so I always figured that it's somewhat of a masking scent.
God is so good to me.

Cedar trees seem to repel most insects. This thread has me wondering if it would help to roll around in some green cedar branches before going out. And added benefit would be the smell. This is just a wild thought; may try it, though.

My daughter works at a veterinarian office and got me to use Adams flea & tick spray for dogs/cats. it kills the bugs & keeps them off you. They use it on their clothes at work when handling outdoor pets. Costs 5 bucks at walmart. I tried it last year dove hunting in south texas. don't spray it on your skin but rather keep it on your clothes and boots. I swear it works GREAT! Even those little black gnats didn't come near me...

Hunter-Steve speaks the truth, and it's also extremely good for your stomach/liver/kidneys etc.
