Roy? Are you getting ready to start a second childhood? Or are you about to have a midlife crisis? Do something stupid and simple to get it out of your system.

To live a real long time, statistics suggest that you need to be short, low body fat, and female. Since ‘identifying’ as a woman won’t work with the statistics, I guess I won’t do that. And I’m not short and lean. What I am is a physical clone of my Dad, who made it to 85, and living healthier than he did, maybe I can make a few more years past 85.
I’ve been clinically dead once already, and it didn’t hurt a bit. Happily, I didn’t stay dead, thanks to my doctor. I was 16 and hadn’t even gotten lucky yet.
I’ll go when I go. All I ask is that I don’t spend a long time as an invalid or in pain.
And, I should mention that statistics indicate that if a person gets past their mid to late 80’s in good condition, without a significant decline, chances are excellent that they’ll make another 10 years or so. The mid 80’s, with health, seem to be that important.
Not my monkeys, not my circus...

I'm more concerned with quality of life than death. But yes some times it just flat does not make sense.

If your a big smoker and drinker (like my dad) the last few years will suck. If not, I think you will more likely have the normal stiffness, aches and pains but better than the alternative. Based on your parents I'd say 85 is a good target, more would be great if the quality is there. Yep, that and advances in medical care extend those kind of lifestyles.

My Grandfathers both made it into their mid-90s before their hearts stopped. My Dad made it to 96, but his mind was about 1/2 capacity for his last year. He knew it was happening and it bothered him a lot.
I don't want to be like that but probably will be.
A Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote on the dinner menu. That is why this country was specifically not designed as a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.

I've been shot at over seas, stabbed twice here while being robbed, hit by a speeding driver that split my truck, hit in the head with a 2x4 by some vengeful thugs, thrown from a pickup truck and broke my shoulder, and my wrist was slashed to the artery by a broken piece of porcelain. The last one was scary because I was a long way from the hospital and bled pretty good. I've had 5 different types of surgeries to repair different issues caused by living fast and hard. My brothers have deemed me 'El Gato Negro'. I'm not sure when my day will come but I hope it's quick.
