In Garland or Lewisville. They tout free beer and drinks and show pictures of huge plates of food. Any good??

The one in Irving is good and big servings but no free beer

It's a chain. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I've eaten at them in Tyler, Lewisville and I think Longview. Food is pretty good. Good value as well. They had cheese grits that were good. Something you don't get everywhere. It's worth the stop.

One here in Killeen. We're seafood place poor here. I've eaten several different things there and all were good. They have free beer here too.

Hmm me thinks I'll try one of these Friday night with the family. We are always looking for good seafood places around here. Being from Corpus Christi we are often let down. Whenever we go "home" we eat at every seafood restaurant we can cram into the trip.

We love cajun too and the wierd [censored] damn fixation with asian cajun around here drives us nuts to no end. I mean I love asian food and I love cajun but no, not some sort of weird stupid fusion...keep that heavy red garlic dredge out of my cajun please smile

Yep. Haven't you eaten at just about any Cajun restaurant in the metroplex other than Razoo's, Frilly's, Fishmongers, Shuck n Jive, Tasty Fish or Papadaux's?

They are typically owned and operated by Asians (nothing wrong with that mind you) - but their food has an asian flavor to it rather than made in the cajun style. For instance the boils instead of cajun seasonings are a heavy, heavy thick red muddy mess that is chock full of garlic.

They will have fried fish and shrimp but it's different than what you will have in a more authentic cajun resteraunt.

Maybe things are different in Bedford but here in Plano, Allen, Frisco, Richardson, etc. it's how it is. Examples of this around here are:

The Boiling Stop
Bear Bay
Shell Shack
Henry's Crab Shack

If I stick to the ones in the first sentence I'm good, with anything else it's often a crap shoot around where I live.

I prefer the asian cajun. If you dont like it i would suggest fish city grill they stick to pretty bland food

I definitely don't like bland (though my family makes me eat at fish city way more than I like). I do like authentic Louisiana style cajun. Frilly's in Denton if it's still there is great...I do love Tasty Fish in Richardson. Aw shucks is ok but I think we ate there too much.

I'd definitely say if we had a Tejun like they do in Waco you'd find me at that darn place every darn week once or twice.

I'm from S. LA. Grew up in New Orleans and basically call everything south of I-10 home. My biggest complaint about "Cajun" restaurants outside of Louisiana are the ones that think all you have to do is dump a bunch of Cayene pepper in it until it kills your taste buds and it can be called Cajun. I'm married to a Cajun and ate Cajun food my whole life and never had a meal that was too hot to eat. Real Cajun food has enough spice to enhance the flavor but never dominate it. I'll stick to my home cooking and eat something else when I go out to eat.

I couldn’t agree more chopper, leave the cayenne pepper in the drawer, real Cajun food doesn’t burn your tastebuds out, just sayin

Thank You!!! Yes X1,000! Cajun food doesn't mean it's so hot that it all tastes the same! I'm from NOLA, my name ends in "eaux," and the best seafood in New Orleans is from those little canal restaraunts out in Kenner or across the lake in Ponchatoula.

What he said.

My Mom's family is from SW Louisiana (Sulphur/Carlyss/Hackberry) and has been there for over 200 years. I will also stick to home cooking and eat something else when I go out to eat. I am really hard on Cajun restaurants especially here in the Metromess because compared to what I have eaten and prepared over the years it is not even close.

It's not terrible, but wasn't great. It'll cure a hankering for seafood, but won't leave you amazed.

Cajun style seafood is one of the things I miss from the years I lived in New Orleans. I’ve been to The Catch a couple of times for the red beans and rice. It was decent, but expensive, and the portions were small. These days Pappadeaux, Landry’s, or Babins will do if I can find one. The Blue Dog Cafe in Lafayette made my taste buds hum with happiness last time I was there.

If is the same chain that has a location in Longview, the food is OK but not the best. A step up from Long John Silvers.

We went to the one in Lewisville once, haven't been back. The food was greasy and not good in general.
I surprised it stays open but there are usually people there.
I also won't waste any more time at Pier 407 in Flower Mound. It is Asian owned and the ladies are very friendly and provide great service but the fried food was all frozen stuff like you would get at a Chinese buffet. I honestly felt like I was eating fish and shrimp at a donut shop.

I have eaten at the one in Tyler. Not bad, but nothing to get excited about.

I have eaten at several and they have all been great. I eat out a lot and have been in the restaurant business most of my life. They make most everything very fresh with good ingredients. I havent been to all locations, but for sure the ones in the FtW, Arlington area are great.

If you are in Longview the best by far (or it used to be when I was over there a lot) was Fisherman's Market!!
