Does anyone have any personal experience with the sleep apnea treatment called Inspire? Apparently I snore. The wife has “mentioned” it a time or two. It’s when she wakes me up to turn over that is irritating. It really didn’t bother me until it bothered my buddies at an outing. I can’t be THAT guy anymore.

Embarrassment is a factor but I really know I get limited airflow at night. I always have but it’s time to address this and I just can’t see the Pap smear working for me. I don’t know

Because you don't know to what level. My o2 saturation was so bad at my last one they worried for my safety. Snoring is only a side effect.

The cpap takes a little getting used to, but it has made a huge difference in how rested I feel in the morning

They will need to know what to set it at I Guess. See how many time you stop breathing while you try and get to rem sleep.

Is Inspire the one they install into your throat?

I've been on my "pap smear" for as long as there has been sleep apnea. It is a PITA but the machines now are really great, quiet, lightweight , small, easy to travel with.

Yes sir. I’ve gotten where I snore bad in any position now. Maybe a few pounds wouldn’t hurt to shed. I dunno

I think I had it 17 years ago. I lost 60-70 pounds. I stopped snoring about half way through the weight loss. I start snoring again when I weigh about 240+.

Find your number and stay below it.

Weight isnt always the issue. I developed sleep apnea while in the army and fit. Have had it 15 years. Had it when I got up to 260 lbs and still have it now that Im down to 175. The cpap does take a while to get used to but once you do, its kind of hard to sleep without it. I even use it when taking a nap. Recently Ive been staying st my girlfriends place a lot and wasnt using my cpap for the first time in 10 years. After a week I was feeling very rough, had to start using it again.

Skinny was 4th grade. Lol. I’m not fat, per say. A little heavy in the midsection. 6’3-right at 242-244lbs. I could lose 20 pounds.

That’s better than 6’3 300

Yup. I'm 5'9", 174 lbs, and started snoring after spending a year in Kabul...also one of the most polluted cities in the world (#70 behind most of China and India). Out of the blue, my doc referred me for a sleep study. After taking 45 min to hook me up with all the wires, they found out I stopped breathing 26 times per hour, which equals "Moderate Sleep Apnea." Been sleeping with a CPAP for five years and never noticed much of a difference in how I feel, but the wife says I rest better and do not "jump" in my sleep anymore.

Definitely get the sleep study. yawn

Dude at my sleep study I was having 43 episodes per hour of not breathing (Serious Stuff)!!
It is a starting point of finding out your issues. I was tired all day and would wake up and take a nap drinking a cup of coffee.
First 2 nights on my CPAP machine I slept 11 hours each night. Didn't know how exhausted I was.
Don't get a mask with your machine get the nose pillows less restrictive.
Good luck,

This. I had to do one mid-year last year and didnt have to go overnight. The whole thing was done in home--they sent the equipment and I mailed it back.

The point is the technology is great. I've had to monitor for AFIB 2X in the last year. They sent the monitor, I attached and wore it for two weeks. sent it back.

oh and the pap smears (lol) are much better these days roflmao

I'm almost 44, 5'11" @ 250 currently. My healthy weight is 210-225 depending.....overweight right now, out of shape, and have been pretty much an alcoholic lately.

Was in shape/fit/hard flying to work overseas.....man next to me was a red dot Indian heart doctor I discovered. I had some drinks before the flight and once we got airborne I was out. I snore pretty bad, they say.....when I woke up Heart Doc introduced himself and said "Sir can I tell you something?"

Said to me that I stopped breathing too many times to count, and that I was a dead man walking unless I got some help. I said aren't we all? LOL

One of these days I will checked. Not gonna happen anytime soon though. More important things to worry about at the moment.

I have severe sleep apnea. Little did I know how bad it was. I would stop breathing upwards of 20 seconds, yea 20. My BP was through the roof and I had an enlarged heart. I was a walking time bomb. Been on a machine now for about 12 yrs. I can't imagine not having it.

I will shake the walls if I don't have access to my machine, its bad, that bad. Hope you get the help you need.

👍

Life on the hose is great although we all would rather not have to. It’s not about snoring. It’s about breathing.
