Hit a couple creeks this morning lookin for the Sandbass. First creek was a complete NOTHING.....not even a bite. Funny thing is it’s usually the best spot. Next creek had no current at all and was so small I could jump across it. But it had fish! Mostly just smaller males right now but a few females mixed in. After the rain this weekend the spawn should be in full swing! Have plenty of fish in the freezer so all are still out there swimming around. May try again this afternoon. clap

Nice! Fishing creeks is probably my favorite way to fish. I have caught lots of fish you wouldn't think would ever be in such a small body of water.

Our creeks are so mud filled with muddy water they are rarely productive.

Cleaned several this weekend from south texas that were still full of eggs, may be longer till the spawn than you think.

Cool, I was wanting to put on the waders and and try to hook a few spawning crappie this weekend. The rain may scare me off tho.

Any creek connected to a lake should have white bass running upriver to spawn right now. It varies some lake to lake (and some lakes/creeks are a lot more popular than others). While not technically "creeks" - the Neches and Sabine are two of the most popular in E Tex - same with Kickapoo Creek above Palestine. Tawakoni, Fork, Cooper, and Wright Patman all have white bass runs. The Neches and Sabine are popular because there is a fair amount of public access to bank fishing.

Nice!
I wish I knew how to fish. I have a kayak and only caught two fish on 5 outings.

Btw, Thanks for meeting me today Justin. I appreciate the deal.

Be more careful...I heard the interior on those Dodges will bite ya!

I actually find Sandbass busting with eggs well into June around here. The bulk of the spawn will be over here by April 10th though. Thats based on over 2 decades of notes I have taken over the years.

If the creeks get blown out from this rain, thats exactly what I plan to do. Got a few places with cattails that should be loading up with fish any day now.

Good to see you again. It turns out it wasnt the trucks fault. There was a T-Rex hiding under my seat and thats what took a bite out of my hand.

AFTERNOON FISHING REPORT:

It was pretty darn good this afternoon. Way more females than this morning. Hooked something really big that was no match for my 6 pound line. I set the hook and it took off and I never got the fish turned around. Thankfully it came off before it could break off.

Funny story:

I was back at that same little creek and I decided to jump across to the other side. Another fisherman saw me do it and I guess he figured since he was half my age he could do it too. Well I dont know if he tripped on his shoe laces or what but he did the mother of all belly flops right into the middle of the creek. I ran over there to help him out since the bank is pretty steep and slippery and once he was out of the water he introduced himself to me. I wont use his real name but it turns out he is a TFF member. Anyway I asked if it would be OK if I called him "Depth Finder" because I always wanted to know how deep that water was and now I know. He kinda chuckled and we parted ways. As I was leaving I asked him if he happend to get the water temp while he was down there and he called me a few pretty colorful names. grin I wont pick on him anymore because he seemed like a pretty good guy.

If anyone I know personally reads this. It's not me he is referring to as depth finder.
