what are you choices?

1. Turn it in to the POPO
2. a "legal" sale?

3. Or too much paperwork to mess with it

You can sell it to another individual but the transfer has to be done through a Class III SOT dealer. They take possession of the can and keep it until the buyer get's approved as if they were getting a new suppressor. At least that's my understanding...call Jimmy at Texas Ordnance Depot in Hico. He's an expert on all things suppressor sales

You posted this once before...you sell it Buzz.

If you're not expecting to get retail it should be able to sell. Save someone some money and make use of something you have sitting around.

Give it to your friend before you surrender it. Heck, I bet your SIL would love to have it.

Follow-up; if I have a trust that precedes the ATF changes from a few years ago, do I have to have a new trust or can the used suppressor I'm buying be transferred to that existing trust?

Buzz why would want to “get rid of” to the point you’re considering giving it to the popo? Has it been banned from the house?

The changes didn't affect what kind of trust you have, just what "extras" you have to do when you send in your paperwork. Photos, fingerprints etc.

Umm, it doesn't eat, drink, or need to be walked... put it in a drawer and let it be.

You dont know what your talking about. It DOES NOT have to go thru a dealer. You can do ind to indv on in state.

You should turn in to the POPPO if having a suppressor in the house is that much of a burden.

IF you’re buying a used suppressor - weigh it and compare to standard spec weight listed by manufacturer.

If the can has been used a lot it will weigh much more than standard (new) weight due to carbon build up within and may not be worth the hassle.

Not all suppressors are user serviceable and therefore cannot be cleaned / restored to like new operating conditions.

If any of this matters to a buyer they should probably just buy a new can so they know what the history is on it.

OR

They can buy Buzz’s and feel good that it probably has less than 10 rounds fired through it

I just woke up and I'm putting him on ignore. He doesn't listen to anything anyone tells him. Just a waste of time really.

But it funny watching him loose his azz on everything he buy's & then a couple weeks later sells.
I can't say that I've ever seen anything like Buzz, he's kind of like watching a drug junkie getting high and then crashing after the high wears off!

This is EXACTLY my addiction.

I only have one more being built, then I'm done

The suppressor was just a thought if I sell both .22's

To my haters, please put me on "ignore". I don't want to ruin anyone's day. I'm just having fun being Buzz

What 22 can is it Buzz? I don't have a 22 or a 22 can but might be interested if you didn't buy one that could double as a boat anchor wink

Buzz is a stand up and funny guy. It's really no one's business what he does with his time or money. If you don't like something he posts or does then so be it. Haters can go eff themselves, pound sand, move the hell on and keep your comments to yourself.

Buzz if you’re truly just wanting to get rid of it I’d pay the tax stamp and take it over for my son before you give it back to the ATF. I already have a 22 can but I’d take another one if you’re just going to surrender it.

It’s a legit offer and if you’re interested let me know.

I have a 30 cal can that I got from a no name maker in exchange for a website and it doesn’t suppress for chit and I don’t use it. But I’ll let it turn to dust in my safe before I surrender it.

All the paperwork is on an in-state buyer's side (Form 4) and no dealer has to be involved. Take a 50% deposit. Once you receive the approved Form 4, get the rest of your money, make a copy of the Form 4 and turn over the can.

If you're selling it to an out-of-state buyer, you must transfer (Form 3) it to a Class III dealer in TX who will then send it to the out-of-state dealer on another Form 4.

The out-of-state buyer would submit the Form 4 AFTER his dealer receives it. Once the approved the Form 4 comes in, the buyer can collect it and the can.

George...once an NFA item is on a Form 4 it stays on a Form 4. It cannot be transferred back to a Form 3. So for an out of state buyer it would have to go from the seller to FFL dealer on a Form 4 ($200 NFA Fee + FFL transfer fee) and then to the buyer on a Form 4 ($200 NFA Fee).

This is kind of why it's cost prohibitive to sell an NFA item (except transferable machine gun) to a private party.
