My wife was watching this train wreck of a show the other day and I got sucked into wasting a few hours of my life watching it.

Long story short, guy has 4 wives and 27 ( I think ) children. Seems he spent all his spare time bickering with at least 1 if not all his wives at the same time.

What would be the upside to this type of lifestyle? If you can get your wife to go along with you marrying another women than you can get her to go along with some no strings attached bedroom fun with another woman, so that aspect isn’t holding water. Then all the children? How do you have a relationship with them? I have 3 kids and find it hard to spend quality time with each of them, how in the hell do you do it when there are 20 plus? You spend all your time working and every cent goes to food and shelter for all these folks.

Seeing how this is a voluntary lifestyle, what is the upside? Assuming it was legal and all parties were willing .....it seems like a prison sentence to me

My wife watches the show - therefore I have watched the show too. I think a lot of these folks are brought up in it - and are more or less brainwashed from a young age that it is what their religion calls them to do. The people on the show definitely don't seem to be a bunch of perverts - but I would say that the dude and at least two of the wives - if not 3 of them - have some serious regrets about the lifestyle.

I can't imagine having two woman to piss off - nevermind 4 or 5 of 'em.

My great grandmother grew up around some Mormons. She said the church officials molested the girls when the hit puberty. That was her story on the cult.

I was in court sitting at a table with an Attorney General rep, while we were hashing out "new" child support obligations. This older Mexican American man got assisted up there before the judge in chains and cuffs. I'll never forget.....Judge said Mr @%#&$^, are you tired of sitting in jail? Are you ready to start paying child support? He answered...."HELL no". Ok, put him back in the cell.

I asked the AG rep, what's up with that? He would rather sit in jail vs working and taking care of his kids?

She said "oh yeh, we know him well. He has 23 children from 19 different women and he refuses to pay support for any of them, so he's still here".

Don't kid yourself, that Dad is minimally involved in the kids' or the wives' actual lifestyles. In that religion, the wives raise all the kids as a collective and the husband gets to basically tend to himself and his own lifestyle.
