Picked some up for .308, 165 gr., how does it shoot? Usually fire .308 Core-Lokt, 150gr. for compares/contrasts...Principal use is deer and hog busting..

I've used it a lot in my 6.8. Accurate and kills hogs and deer just fine.

It is my go-to round in my 6.8 and my Rem 788 .243. Affordable, very accurate, good terminal performance. I sold my 7-08 but the 120gr in it was deadly on deer and also very accurate. I would not hesitate to try it in any caliber I own.

My brother lost a big 6x6 bull elk using Fusion in .30-06. But it was poor shot placement right on the shoulder blade so got little penetration. But that means little to nothing for medium sized game.

Most accurate factory ammo in my opinion, shoots great in all of my rifles. I was not; however, impressed with it's performance on deer this year. Shot a buck right behind the shoulder, knocked it down, it got up and ran about 50 yards, shot it again and it ran another 50 yards before it expired. Shot a doe the next day, same thing. I know lung shot deer typically run a little bit but not that far. I will continue to use it at the range but will use something else for actual hunting.

Use it in my 22-250, accurate and deadly. No complaints here.

i hate that round in mine. Its not the most accurate and unless you hit bone it pin-holes in and out.

I went back to V-Max

I decided I had bought my last box of CorLokt ammo after trying my first box of Federal Fusion. It has performed well in every caliber that I've tried with the exception of 6.5 Creedmoor. Not sure why but my Savage Model 110 prefers the Hornady 143-grain, ELD-X (but then doesn't everyone's Creedmoor shoot this load well) and Winchester 125-grain Deer Season XP loads, which it shoots ballistically the same as the ELD-X.

This hog was taken with Fusion 95-grain, .243 ammo. Makes for a very comfortable shooter.

Interesting. Exact opposite with mine. I sighted mine in with V-Max & Fusions and the Fusions cloverleafed and have blown big holes in everything so far (deer & javalina). I like the V-Max and expected it to be the winner, but not in my rifle.

In Grendel, Fusion has caused no issues with accuracy for me. Expansion is as advertised. If you want softpoint performance, it will give you sofpoint performance. I am not a huge fan of softpoints, but can't argue with a bullet that does what it is advertised to do.

From previous threads, they are pretty much the same as the federal buck masters. Either way, I like them at the old 21.99 price haha

Been using fusion for several years. Works great on deer and pigs.

The Buckmaster came later, it’s the Fusion in a different box with a $3 markup

In my 7mm-08 Federal Fusion 140 gr. is outstanding on deer. My Rem. 700 barrel loves it!

I shoot Fusion’s in my .243. I have to say very impressed with it. It shoots great out of the other rounds I tried. [Linked Image]

I think Fusion was one of the first bonded bullets. I’m very surprised to hear that it didn’t penetrate an elk shoulder as stated above. Surprised enough to think maybe that shot may have been pulled since the animal was not recovered.
Of the many animals killed with fusion one bullet was recovered in the offside of a #300 boar after taking out both shoulders.

I do agree that it probably doesn’t expand much of no bones are hit.

The one recovered. 7-08 140g

Welll that’s what the guide who was watching through binoculars reported, your surprise notwithstanding. He too thought it should have penetrated and was expecting an easy recovery. Since the animal was not recovered we will never know for sure what happened, that’s a fact.

I’ve hunted long enough to know that anything can and does happen while big game hunting, no shot is exactly the same, no animal reacts exactly the same, and there is no 100% certainly as to what will happen when a trigger is pulled. Ever. The best we can do is try to maximize the chances for good outcomes and minimize the chances for bad outcomes.

Almost every pig I have killed in the last 3-4 years is with the 223 Fusion. Great ammo IMO and would not hesitate on using it for big game.
