It has actually gotten easier. You can no longer take it to a hub for drop off. I simply print out a label via my fedex account, put the necessary hazmat marking, double box per Regs, and declare it. FedEx will pick it up from your door step and you can track it all the way to its destination. There is no extra charge for ammunition but you will have to declare a weight and it must be under 66lbs per package in order to ship.

The rules are pretty simple to understand but the carriers and most notably their employees' understanding of them are sketchy. I use UPS. Since there is no UPS Store around what I do is print the postage from my account at home as mentioned above. I mark the box with the symbols, etc. and take it to the local mail store franchise. If you print your label yourself they will usually take it.

Pass the gravy.

I just shipped some on Saturday (to Austin). Cheapest I found is FedEx Ground. Like posters stated above, pretty easy. No USPS.

UPS store told me the other day that UPS has no specific policies but individual stores can refuse to ship anything. So this store said they don't accept any gun related items. However, I was returning some ammo to a manufacturer who sent me a pre-paid label, they took it. Just not the ammo I was trying to pay for and ship.

No

The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

Correct, totally different beast. I was also sending factory loaded ammo, not like my handloads.

FYI shipping ammunition via USPS is a felony.

Shipped 6 boxes the other day. Idaho to the East Coast, and weighed 11#. Cost $16.00 with UPS. Flawless and easy.

Once again, sign up for an online account and pay for and print the label at home. Drop it off at the store or schedule a pick up. They will not usually sell you the postage but they will accept pre-paid for shipment.

Pass the gravy.
