So we got 14 acres in hunt county. My dad brother and I are all going to build houses on it. But I was on a three week timeline to be out of my rent house so before I can build a house I needed something to live in. I got a 16x50 derskin building and built it out.

So to start we have 14 acres on a dirt road. No power. No water. No sewer. Starting all from scratch. I put my culvert in and driveway on a Friday morning and brought the building in that afternoon.

You are one lucky man.

Have already done that. Also having a well drilled as soon as they can get out. And main source of water will be rain water collection

Good luck on your new dwelling. Looks like the truck sunk just a little bit, did they get it back to where you wanted it?

Trees for the fence line will be started to get cut tomorrow so we can run power down the road to the property. Also framed out my brothers house. Which he is doing the same as me yesterday and started and almost finished the electric today.

I had to drag the truck with the building 2000 foot down the dirt road and then into the property it was stuck to the axles in my driveway so I had to drag him out from underneath the building and then back down the road. But we did get the building where I wanted it. It makes it nice when you have plenty of heavy equipment.

This is my power and water situation for now. I haul water from work until I get gutters setup and or the well drilled. And I am running the house off one of my generators. Until I get power.

How do you keep the water tank from turning into a big tub of green goo? I need to put one of those in my system for watering the garden and the grazing animals the wife wants.

Since it is black it doesn’t get sunlight and stays pretty clean. I am also going through 250 gallons in two to three days so it gets water moving through it and not sitting there very long.

You are rolling right along Walter, congrats on the new place.

A good friend went that route when they sold their house, put it on the market and sold it in the first 2 weeks. So did the small house from a building like that and put in the back yard or the house he had started and had the foundation already set. His wife loved the small house and they lived in it for several years before finishing the larger one.

That is exactly my plan to do. That way I can build the house and save all that cost. But still live on site and it not be a rush.

Looks good. Been debating doing this in the next couple of years or so.
