What made you join this forum? Have most of you left Texas and want to keep a virtual connection?

Just curious.

Well, every time I go home, to Texas, I get .lots of questions about hunting in Wyoming so I thought it would be a way to answer some of those for fellow hunters down there.
I also like keeping up with what's going on from my home state.

I also enjoy listening to various hunting stories and getting some advice from well seasoned hunters.
You all have a wealth of knowledge on various other topics too.

I will admit, attitudes are different in Texas compared to Wyoming on many topics so I try to get our way of doing things out there too.

For the most part I really enjoy the discussion on here, have to take some with a grain of salt but I imagine I have rubbed some on here the wrong way too. I accept that and do respect most opinions.

I really just like to promote hunting, in Wyoming especially now.

Born and raised in the South, learned proper manners as a kid, and fit right in with most people I meet there. Had a good job there in Bay City, and enjoyed ourselves, but the wife and oldest son had allergies that didn't tolerate the mold, mildew, and some other stuff in the air. Idaho was home, so we returned.

Love the hunting and fishing, get back down for at least a couple times a year, to see good friends. Take an awful lot of Texans on deer and elk hunts here, and always willing to help out and provide advice. Have been doing the Public Hunts for 30 years, and know a bunch of folks in TPWD.

Love Tex-Mex and Southern food. Figured this was as nice place to hang out, as any.

I enjoy visiting all of my neighbors. But I must say I favor the ones to the West of me over those to the East.

Texas is home, but work keeps me moving every couple of years. Matter of fact, it's almost that time again...

I'm not native to Texas but I lived there almost half my life. Have family there and I like the forum for lots of reasons.

Lived more of my life in Texas than any other single place; and more than I imagined I ever would. I can't seem to find an Ozarks hunting forum. Most of the discussion here is relevant to the Ozarks.

I currently have an armadillo problem I need to correct. Going to search the THF for some advice.

Born here and pretty sure Ill die here. I would think that the bulk of this forum would apply no matter where a person lived. Lots of entertainment value that applies anywhere. I never thought about it but I feel the majority of everything on here would be good for anywhere.

I was stationed in Texas in the USAF in the 80s. loved Texas as a young single man lol.
I was unable to make a boyhood dream come true and hunt the famed Texas deer. So for the last 3 years I have had arrangements made to travel to Texas and throw that item in the bucket at last.
But each year something catastrophic has popped up at the last minute and kept me from making the trip.
2020 was the kung flu of course.
I browse the forum occasionally as it somehow keeps the Texas trip on the front burner.
I've learned A LOT of very valuable Texas specific info from this forum regarding what I am looking for and what I THOUGHT I was looking for which turned out to be two very different things.

Imagine how helpful a forum like this one would be if they existed in other states. I can't find them if they do.
And let me say again, the help and info are greatly appreciated

There are hunting forums for most states, back when I hunted out of state, I was on the ones that went to. Usually they were trips to see people I knew, ad I would add in a hunt while there. One guy was my RTO, we would meet at Fort Riley for a pheasant hunt, and then hunt places he had access to near his home. Nebraska also has some forums, this was for a deer hunt, again with someone I knew that lived there. Georgia and Alabama forums were for turkey hunts and again visits. Colorado, I hunted there with relatives, but also read one forum.

Used to be a group of Vietnam vets that had ran a forum that organized hunts in a lot of states. Years ago I along with some others from Texas hosted several hunts in Texas. But that forum has expired, as has a lot of the members.

I wound up here while tracking a scam artist from my own area.

It the time I was a moderator on a hunting forum in Alberta, my home province and this scammer had been giving us grief for several years.
He would troll our site, scam a couple of people and get banned. Reinvent himself and do it all over again.

So after banning him for the third time, other mods had banned him multiple times before I became a mod, a new member caught my attention.
Suspecting it was our resident scammer I did a google search for his user name to see if it appeared on other sites and if that might give me clues as to who he really was. That led me here and here I got the confirmation I was hoping to find.

At first I stayed to out him here if he returned, but I liked the way this site is run and like the way people here get along so after a while I decided to stay even after I stepped down from moderating at the other site.
