Which model do you have or do all models have the sear slider ?

I have the Pit Boss Pro Series 820, I think they have a newer model now. But the link below is the one I have.

Bought one, used it and I don't see the allure. Sold it and back to my wood smoker.

What are some of the good features that you look for in a pellet smoker? Can you smoke/cook a good brisket on it? Can you grill normal on it?

Yea, I think they replaced my model with the newer hammer tone one with some upgrades. Mine is 2+ years old, so mine might be discontinued now.

Recteq 680 for me. They have customer service like you wouldn't believe and the Wifi Controller is great as it's Wifi and not Bluetooth, so better distance. Another claim to fame of their's is holding temp so specific. The phone app graphs out cook time and grill temp with two probe temps as well.

If you're thinking about getting a Recteq controller for something else, they got wise to that and now make you take a picture of your serial # with some message of the day and email to them to prove you really do have an older Recteq controller.

I like my Recteq, but I won't be getting rid of my Weber Genesis propane grill.

Royal, I cooked (5) 10lb Pork butts at one time, about 14 hours, for Christmas on the Recteq.

Pitts and spitts will run up to 600 degrees.
Puts out a nice, even and clean smoke up to around 250. Use like a smoker, grill, oven....whatever you want.
American made, easy to clean, heavy duty slide out racks like a traditional smoker, brass ball valve drain, constant temps, and all replaceable parts.
They are expensive, but worth it. 8-10 week back order right now.

That's the setup I have and have been very happy with it. It's a Woodwind model. As mentioned above, if you want extra smoke just fill a smoke tube up with pellets and let 'er rip. Mine will smoke continuously for 6 hours like that.

What is and where to get smoke tube?

How much wood is in a $40 stack?

You also have to factor in the amount of cold beer required to maintain temperature and the time spent with friends and family. I’ve only used a pellet burner one time and it’s not good for socializing. I don’t need one.

I don’t think BIL drinks beer. He only drinks whiskey so he’d be dead by time a brisket was done.

Everyone is correct never smoke anything that gets done quickly it limits beer drinking and socializing!

Then get really smart and buy a Kamado!

This^^

Get close the same temp control and far more versatility.......PLUS not having to rely on electricity to run your "smoker"

Not against pellet grills per se, but if you can only have one, kamado is the way to go for all around grilling/smoking. Either Big Green Egg,, Kamado Joe or Primo.

Here 'ya go Angus. They work great. You can also use wood chips but they don't burn near as long, about 1/2.

A stack is barely enough for one goodsmoke

I drink plenty of beer and that’s not a decision maker , it’s a given
