They shoot excellent in the wife's 25-06 but you will not get pass thru a lot of the time, and that means you may not get a blood trail. In thick brush & timber you have poor chance to find the dead deer if he gets 10 yards into the cover. Had a buddy try to find a deer with his thermal about 3 weeks ago and no luck, that's how thick the tract of land was. I am trying to find a replacement bullet for her rifle.

About 90% of the deer and hogs I have taken in my life have been with 150 Grain Nosler Ballistic Tips from a .308.

Typically golf ball to baseball sized exit holes on deer with heart/lung shots, and exits on high shoulder shots about half the time. Pass through on hogs about 75% of the time, the other 25% were head/neck shots and were DRT.

All of the shoulder shot deer and the one neck shot deer were DRT, all of the heart/lung shot deer were down within 25 yards.

I like them.

Big difference in a 150 gr 308 bullet & a 120 gr 25 cal bullet. Yes they work good if hunting in an area where you can see any fallen dead deer but like said we hunt in 2 areas that are so thick you cannot see 10 feet in front of you.

In terms of sectional density, the .257 115 Nosler Ballistic Tip is actually a stouter bullet than a .308 150 Nosler Ballistic Tip (.249 SD .vs .226 SD)

If I hunted in an area that thick (I hunt East Texas also and the area I hunt is almost as thick as yours), I would be shooting a shotgun with Slugs or Buckshot.

Ballistic tips are killing machines. I've killed way too many deer/aoudad with them to think otherwise.

The only time I’ve ever had a Nosler BT fail was when I loaded 150g in a 300 RUM at 3500 FPS, they exploded on impact basically skinning the deers shoulder but that was because I used it for varmint hunting and tried to shoot a deer. User error on my part and not the bullets, I’ve killed a ton of deer with them, my go to deer bullet in smaller calibers.

There will always be those who just relish the opportunity to repeat the story they overheard a guy tell at the coffe shop about his cousin's father-in-law who knew two guys who worked at Halliburton and one of those guys drove a Ford and knew a guy in high schhol who's uncle shot a deer at 100 yards and the ballistic tip just bounced right off his shoulder. I shoot 120gr Nosler BTs out of a 7mm-08 and I promise a Texas whitetail deer simply cannot survive the wound.

150 & 165. B. Tips have been my primary bullet for years in a .308 & 30-06. Pass thru on whitetails is quite common even with the 150s. If you don't get a pass thru then switch to the 165 gr. I put an Elk down with the 165 out of a .308. Great bullets.

Yep.

I hand-load the Combined Technology 140 gr. Ballistic Silver Tip and it drops deer right in their tracks (proper bullet placement).

It can be explosive if a shot is taken closer than you'd like....but I've happy with them for many, many years.

Which 25cal BTip are you shooting in your 25/06? 100gr or 115gr?

Yep that's all I use in my 243 and 25-06, accurate & deadly. In all these years using them I've lost 1 animal and that was 100% my fault, not the bullet.

120 BT's launched from 7mm-08 are devastating on whitetails. 280 shooting 150 BT works on elk size game as well.

115's at about 2900+ fps.

We recovered lots of NBTs on the far side of the rib cage without an exit in 20-06. Most didn't go far, but I was also pretty good at tracking without a blood trail. I hunted the same land for many years and I learned where the deer tended to go when shot.

If you gotta have an exit would, the Nosler Partition and Barnes X Bullet are better choices.

I have used the 150 gr. Ballistic Tip for many years shot from my 7x57 at 2700 fps on many deer. I could use that combination for the rest of my hunting days. Rarely caught a bullet even on big hogs and never caught one in a deer. I have used the 165 gr. BT in a 30-06 and you could not ask for better performance, quick kills and short blood trails. I can also say the same for the 180 from my 30-06, accurate and always expands. I don't always use them but I am a fan.

If y’all would start shooting those deer in the center of the neck from your 100 yard rest you could quit worrying about a blood trail.

Never seen a deer take a single step with the center of the neck shot yet!
Works as advertised it’s a garanteed off switch

Between them and Sierra’s Gamekings I’ve never been let down. The 140 BT’s were my favorite in 7-08 before they became impossible to find. Now, it’s 160 Sierra BTHP Gamekings.

Kind of naive that comment is, we don't all hunt from stands watching feeders. Maybe if you actually did some real hunting say in one of Texas's national forests you might be able to form a better overall opinion.
