Please dont have him posed as a sneak. I want to see a pic once hes mounted and with part of his neck and shoulder showing and with you close by the mount in hopes it will give some perspective on true size. Ive never seen an 8 point with anywhere close to those type measurements so I have no "feel" for what he really looks like. I just know that he does not look nearly as big, to me, as I know that no doubt he actually is. Of course the official score sheet doesnt make him look any bigger, but it does validate, what no doubt no one thought wasnt true. Congratulations again on a true anomaly of nature.

My Taxidermist wants to mount on a free standing pedestal of some sort....he is also making duplicate for rancher and myself.
I want to incorporate the rattling horns into it some how. The horns I used were literally table centerpieces that I grabbed off the outside dining table while no one was looking as I had no rattling horns with me bolt

Pedestal will be great and it deserves such, if not full body. Pedestal you can look from all directions. The rattling horns could just be easily hung at any time and various places on the pedestal, depending on its design. You, nor most anyone else, will ever kill another one quiet like that, so I would chose wisely.

You holding it at bases show the 40 plus mass on it. It take two eyes slits also to cover diameter.

Beautiful buck. Buck of 1000 life times. I’ve only seen two killed that where that big and that clean. Yours and one from KS.

Congrats again, gives us all hope that unicorns are there

There was a upper 170's net killed by a young man a few years ago that a pic of it was posted on here. IIRC it was low fence and the young man pasted away a few years after he killed that buck. IIRC it was from Maverick County or maybe Dimmit County.

I actually saw that giant 8 and it was incredible to say the least.

This one is every bit as impressive without a doubt as it has more mass whereas the one you are referring back to had more width and height.

Both bucks are truly amazing animals.

My cousin is a taxidermist and does work for the guy where this buck is at and he held the horns and said no picture can do it justice!

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

I believe this is the giant 8 below that stxrm was referring to that was killed back in 2005 or 2006 in Maverick County.
I think it was in the mid 170s

That buck was taken in Maverick County by Steven Zieschang back in 2006-07 season. He netted 179 5/8" That is the buck I mentioned above.

That really shows the mass and tine length much better. Show how huge an 8pt he was.

The only thing in deer hunting more perfect than a clean, low fence, 180 class 8 point.....is the same kind of clean 200 class 10 point...... absolutely stunning. Mass is off the charts.

I go to a lot of the TBGA shows but can’t make that one. I really want to see that buck some day.

Just a beaut! Dream buck for me. The shoulder mount looks great. Send up a pic when you get it finished and off the temp pedestal.
