If so, what to they run? I am totally opposed to it, but the wife keeps hounding me. I think I bought myself some time, but I think it may be inevitable. How much is it gonna hurt?

We have one that comes twice a month, they charge $80 for our 2300 sq ft house, totally worth it.

Cash only.

$150 per visit for 4100 sq. ft. Wife keeps giving them raises. Think we could get it done for about $120.

Definitely agree it's worth it. They are pretty thorough.

We have a gal that comes in and cleans twice a month. We pay $150 per visit and it is absolutely worth it. I don't want to spend what little free time I have scrubbing the floors.

Same boat. Wife has brought up the maid thing a few times. To her credit, we are crazy busy with a 12 year old & 14 year old with flute lessons, swim team practice, theater practice, baseball and 7 on 7. We both work full time. We just team up on it when we can now but it would be nice to have someone come in a couple times a month.

$150 twice a month

They'll take out the trash, do dishes, and even laundry if they see my kids stuff piled up

Ours shows up once per month for $100...with her own Fabuloso.
2500' house.
She only does the following;

dust baseboards, plantation blinds, sills.
scrub showers, tub, and toilets.
Then she will pick out something we need done, like clean the oven, or microwave, or swiffer the floor.
Basically anything my wife didn't get to that week.

Trusting someone is worth over paying if you have the opportunity.

Have you checked out Merry Maids?

Just be aware that you might be responsible for withholding social security taxes. Even if you pay cash and not deduct it. There is a racket of people wanting cash for decades, then when it comes time for SS they go back and say they worked at various places for cash, and it was not reported. At that poingt in time it goes to teh IRS, there is NO STATUTE of LIMITATIONS if no return was filed. You land up paying both halves of the SS and a butt load of penalties and interest.

To be safe, use a service, where the owner of the maid service does the withholding etc., You pay more, but the service most likely will have insurance and workman's comp insurance, Do you?

150$ every two weeks for ours. Wouldn’t have it any other way. She does a deep clean that includes everything besides dishes/laundry but does change out bedsheets. Brings her own supplies and I gave her a raise after three years of 50$. Has a key to our house and babysits the kids. Can’t pay enough for that kind of trust.

Once a week...she charges 50 but I give her 60. I could do it but simply don’t want to. My house is 1200sf...I live mostly alone. But I’m also pretty neat. Not much to clean up after me.

seems like the prices are pretty consistent
Ours is $100 every two weeks and for that price we get
* mop the downstairs (all tile)
* vacuum the upstairs
* clean all the bathrooms/showers/toilets (3.5 bathrooms)
* change the sheets in 4 bedrooms
* clean the oven/microwave/fridge
* straighten up everything.

For the sheets, I pull them off the beds and wash them before they get there (unless the room has a second set of sheets and then I just wash them as part of the normal laundry). We supply probably 90% of the cleaning products. It normally takes our lady and her sister about 3 hours to do everything.

Thanks,
Rich

^^^^This right here. Anything less is a crapshoot. What if they fell and broke a hip? What if they go through your Wife's jewelry and decide to steal Grandma's wedding ring? You need to have a crew that's bonded and insured.

When kids were smaller we had a full time nanny/housekeeper 4-5 days a week...she cooked, cleaned, did laundry, etc, we paid her I think $10 an hour for about 30 hours a week. Now, kids are older so we just have a housekeeper come once a week for about 4 hours, it's $75 a week.

I'm surprised she let you go this long. Get her one ASAP, especially if she works that much. My wife stays at home and we still got one, Lol.
