Anyone else feel like it suck to have to to spend so much on different chokes and different ammo to find the best combo? Only to turn around and have a bunch of leftover ammo and chokes you'll never use...
Man it would be great if there was a range that had a bunch of chokes to try and you could buy 1 shell at a time. lol

Head on over to old gobbler. Their classified section is pretty busy.

None yet. Just ordered a Carlson TSS .650. Was on sale for $28 on Midway. Thought that was a pretty good deal. Too bad the damn ammo its made for (Federal Heavyweight TSS) was $45 a box.

Did some research and hoping this combo will work out and I won't have to try anything else.

Sumtoy will make you a choke that will work and if it dont you can send it back and try another. That's what's in everyone of my guns.

The federal TSs is about the worst TSS you can buy. It's better if you reload it yourself. If I was buying some I would get apex. Seriously it's very easy to reload your own.

I appreciate you dogging every thing I just bought. You didn't specify the TSS in my other thread and I don't reload and not going to start. Have zero interest in reloading.
For $30 on the choke, if it doesn't pattern good then I'm not out much. I'll sell it and look at Sumtoy. We'll see. Lot of people like the Carlson chokes.

Going to pick my wife up a 20ga if I can find one though. So if you can recommend some better TSS ammo off the shelf let me know.

Now I got buyers remorse. If that sucks then I’ll cancel my order and go without Longbeards or something. Save a bunch of money.

I wasnt dogging anything at all bud and sorry if I came across like that. Inwas just trying to give you the best information I possibly could.

You will probably be fine with the Carlson. I know a few people that shoot them and they are cheaper than some of the others so if it doesnt pattern right you ain't out a whole lot of money. The reason I mentioned that about the federal TSS, say it's a 2oz load, If you cut that load open and actually measured the amount if shot you are getting jipped. I have had buddies buy it pattern it and wonder why there wasnt a lot of shot on the paper. Come to find out it was down a pretty decent amount in the actual tss in there. I know for a fact a 15/8 oz Federal TSS load only had 1 1/4oz in it and have heard other stories of the same.

In a 12ga i would probably be shooting mag blends or longbeard xr instead of paying the crazy price for tss. Tss really shines in 20 gauge and below. It allows you to throw patterns as good as a 12ga and even better usually and still be able to kill just as far. Before i switched over to the 20 i shot the 12 with longbeard and killed birds over 60 with it. I just like being able to tote a light 20ga instead of the 12.

Honestly I think you will be fine. Throw some patterns up whenever you shoot it and let us know how it did.

I appreciate It. Unfortunately midway and Rogers sporting goods shipped everything out lightning fast. I’ll probably just use these since I got them (if they pattern ok) then in the future just go cheaper on the 12ga.
I did pick up a box of TSS .410 at the store just now. Last box so I grabbed them. I don’t even own a .410 but looking for one for the wife right now. Almost bought a franchi instinct .410 but didn’t really like the look of the wood. She doesn’t want a camo or black gun.

I didn’t know this at the time of my last post but my mom had my grandpas 410 so she just ended up giving It to me today. It’s a fixed full barrel though.
Any experience shooting the federal tss #9 from a fixed full?

Never mind. Seems that’s what most people use.
