Glock 17 will always run. And holds 17+1
Police buddy of mine made a recommendation to me, for a 9mm for my stepson. S&W M&P 2.0 I've only shot it a couple of times. Stepson has not reported a single problem. I like the feel and the controls on that pistol.

I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

The correct answer is: whichever one fits your hands the best.
For me the Beretta PX4s were the best fit. I have one in 45 ACP (full size), one in 9mm (sub-compact), and one in 9mm (compact). While all three "fit" my hands well, I much prefer the compact model. It truly is the best "fit" and I shoot it the fastest and most accurately of three.

"Best" takes in a lot of territory. It's not really fair to compare a $500 polymer / striker gun with a hand tuned $3k 1911. I like my 5" XD and my Dan Wesson Valkyrie both, but they're very different guns.

Number 1 will always be the Browning Hi-Power, number 2 will be either a SIG 226 or a CZ-75, I carry a 226. There are no plastic pistols in my life and never will be!.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

If we are not going with something crazy like an Infinity and talking something more "standard," I would probably have to go with the Beretta M9A3, I don't really think one is any better than any other, but I like shooting the beretta 92 series about the best. Well, really a 9mm 1911 is right up there too, but I kinda put them in a different category

My favorite choice for a full size 9 to shoot is a High Power. Second choice is a beretta 92.
